Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Design Lead – Floor Console to lead the design and development of automotive interior trim components, with a focus on Floor Console systems. The ideal candidate will drive product development, supplier coordination, validation activities, and engineering releases while ensuring quality, cost, timing, and performance targets are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of Floor Console and related interior cockpit components.
- Create and manage 3D CAD models, engineering releases, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with vehicle engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, validation teams, and suppliers.
- Support DFMEA, DVP&R, design validation, and issue resolution activities.
- Conduct manufacturing feasibility studies, assembly reviews, benchmarking, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Maintain BOMs and support engineering change management throughout the product development cycle.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality compliance and timely project delivery.
Required Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Automotive, Mechanical, or Production Engineering.
- 6–8 years of experience in automotive interior trim or cockpit component design and development.
- Strong experience with Floor Console, Instrument Panel, or related interior systems.
- Proficiency in CATIA or NX for 3D modeling and product design.
- Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R, GD&T, BOM management, and engineering release processes.
- Understanding of plastic molding, welding, sheet metal manufacturing, and assembly processes.
- Familiarity with automotive validation, durability, NVH, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
- Exposure to complete product development lifecycle from concept to production.
