About the Role
We are seeking a highly disciplined, technically sound, and hands-on Packing Manager to lead our packaging floor operations in Chennai.
In this role, you will hold complete operational ownership of the final packing line, ensuring our premium Areca palm leaf products are packaged to flawless, export-grade standards. Because $95\%$ of our products are dispatched to $32\text{ countries}$ worldwide, you will be responsible for maintaining absolute packaging integrity, managing floor labor, optimizing packing throughput, and ensuring zero-defect dispatches under tight shipping cut-offs.
Position Overview
- Title: Packing Manager
- Location: Chennai Unit (Tamil Nadu)
- Experience Required: Minimum 10 years of active experience managing a high-volume packing or assembly floor (FMCG, food packaging, exporting, or automotive parts industries preferred).
- Education: Graduate Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (highly preferred to oversee machine maintenance and troubleshooting).
- Compensation: ₹45,000 to ₹65,000 per month (depending on experience).
- Work Schedule: Monday to Saturday | 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (On-site).
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables1. Manpower Planning & Floor Supervision
- Command and schedule the daily shifts of the packing labor force (including permanent and contract workers) to maximize output.
- Eliminate floor idle-time by balancing the flow of incoming cleaned products directly into active packing lines.
- Track individual and line-level labor productivity, establishing clear daily box-packing targets.
2. Packing Machinery Management & Maintenance
- Take absolute ownership of on-site packing machinery (shrink-wrapping machines, continuous band sealers, vacuum packaging units, and custom conveyor lines).
- Apply mechanical expertise to conduct preventive maintenance, minimize machine downtime, and resolve minor electrical/mechanical faults on the fly.
- Work closely with technical vendors to upgrade or calibrate machines for new product shapes.
3. Packaging Materials & Inventory Control
- Inspect and approve the quality of incoming packaging consumables, ensuring that materials like virgin paperboard boxes, corrugated cartons, shrink-wrap films, and labels meet food-contact safety and stacking-strength standards.
- Ensure optimum carton size utilization and plate stacking density to prevent movement or damage during international transit.
- Maintain minimal wastage profiles on shrink films and corrugated boxes.
4. Export Compliance & Dispatch QC
- Supervise final-stage quality checks (QC) to ensure no moisture, mold, odor, or structural defects make it into the final shrink-wrap.
- Coordinate stuffing and labeling protocols to match the strict legal compliance standards of European and US retail chains.
Candidate Profile & Requirements
- Experience: 10 Years of experience managing packing floors, with a heavy emphasis on high-throughput assembly lines or clean-packaging operations.
- Technical Background: A solid educational foundation in Mechanical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech or Diploma) is highly preferred to handle machine operations without external dependency.
- Skills: Excellent leadership, logical process-mapping, inter-departmental problem solving, and basic computer proficiency (ERP, Excel, CRM systems).
- Language: Professional working proficiency in Tamil (for daily labor management) and English (for dispatch sheets and export documentation) is mandatory.
