Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated GPS & Fuel Sensor Installation Technician to install, configure, test, and maintain GPS tracking devices, fuel monitoring systems, and other telematics equipment in various types of vehicles and machinery. The technician should have strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems, wiring, troubleshooting, and field service operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install GPS tracking devices in cars, trucks, buses, construction equipment, and other commercial vehicles.
- Install ultrasonic, capacitive, and analog fuel level sensors in diesel and petrol tanks.
- Perform wiring, soldering, crimping, cable routing, and electrical connections according to company standards.
- Configure GPS devices, fuel sensors, RFID readers, cameras, and other IoT peripherals.
- Calibrate fuel sensors and verify accurate fuel level readings.
- Test GPS connectivity, GSM signals, power supply, ignition input, digital inputs/outputs, and sensor functionality.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, wiring, and communication issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance and onsite service visits.
- Coordinate with the software support team to verify device data on the tracking platform.
- Update firmware and device configurations when required.
- Maintain installation reports, service records, and customer sign-off documents.
- Ensure all installations follow safety standards and company quality guidelines.
- Travel to customer locations for installation, maintenance, and emergency support.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of vehicle electrical systems (12V/24V).
- Experience with GPS tracker installation.
- Knowledge of fuel sensor installation and calibration.
- Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams.
- Experience with multimeters and electrical testing tools.
- Familiarity with relay connections, ignition wiring, ACC, power supply, and grounding.
- Understanding of RS232, RS485, UART, Analog (0–5V), and Digital I/O connections.
- Basic knowledge of GSM, GPS, and IoT devices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and customer handling skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Automobile, or Mechatronics.
- 1–3 years of experience in GPS tracker or automobile electronics installation.
- Experience installing dash cameras, RFID systems, temperature sensors, or fuel monitoring systems is an added advantage.
- Valid two-wheeler driving license (mandatory).
- Willingness to travel extensively.
