Computer Operator Job Description TemplateJob Summary
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Computer Operator to manage, monitor, and maintain our data center and computer systems. In this role, you will ensure maximum system uptime by running batch workloads, executing daily backups, diagnosing technical issues, and maintaining strict physical and digital security protocols. Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Operations & Batch Management
- Maintain detailed knowledge of batch production workloads, including complex job stream interrelationships and dependencies, to provide immediate guidance when production errors occur.
- Review new application systems and major software changes to ensure they are thoroughly documented, tested, and vetted before they are formally accepted into the production environment.
- Initiate and monitor scheduled tasks by entering precise computer commands to maintain the operational flow of data processing.
Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution
- Verify and isolate technical issues, performing thorough root-cause and impact analysis to minimize system downtime.
- Report all hardware or software failures immediately to designated duty hardware/software personnel for rapid resolution.
- Observe error messages, diagnostic lights, and system alerts to proactively catch and troubleshoot processing malfunctions.
Hardware Maintenance & Vendor Coordination
- Direct the implementation and maintenance of all data center hardware systems.
- Interface directly with external vendors to coordinate required preventative maintenance, engineering modifications, and problem resolution.
- Perform routine physical hardware checks to ensure tape drives, printers, and primary storage networks remain in optimal working condition.
Data Security, Backups & Record Keeping
- Provide daily system backups for all test-related data files, software systems, and critical corporate databases to prevent data loss.
- Maintain strict physical security of the computer room, print room, and access terminals to protect sensitive hardware.
- Secure and manage digital archives, including the precise recording and restricted playback of confidential data files.
- Maintain detailed records and files documenting daily range data, physical media, printed output, and ongoing equipment operations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 0–1 years of experience as a Computer Operator, Data Center Technician, or in a related systems operations role.
- Education: Associate's degree or professional certification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar field.
- Technical Skills: Deep familiarity with batch scheduling software, mainframe or server network architecture, database controls, and system backup workflows.
- Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical skills with a proven ability to isolate software glitches and hardware faults under high-pressure scenarios.
Pay: ₹11,500.00 - ₹21,500.00 per month
