We’re Hiring for a Shopify Architect | Freelance
Location: Remote
Experience: 7+ years
We're looking for an experienced Shopify Architect to join our team on a Freelance basis!
Key Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end architecture for Shopify Plus implementations
- Lead technical discovery workshops and solution design sessions
- Define platform standards, integration strategies, and development best practices
- Evaluate build vs. buy decisions for custom apps and third-party solutions
- Create architecture documentation, technical specifications, and solution diagrams
- Mentor Shopify developers through code reviews and technical guidance
- Drive performance optimization and ensure Core Web Vitals & SLA compliance
- Collaborate with QA teams to define testing strategies and acceptance criteria
Key Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in e-commerce engineering, with 4+ years focused on Shopify/Shopify Plus
- Proven experience as a Solution or Platform Architect on enterprise-scale Shopify implementations
- Strong expertise in Shopify APIs (Storefront API, Admin API, Webhooks, Checkout Extensibility)
- Hands-on experience with Headless Shopify using Hydrogen, Next.js, or Remix
- Strong programming skills in Liquid, React, Node.js, and TypeScript
- Experience integrating Shopify with ERP, OMS, CRM, and third-party fulfillment systems
- Strong understanding of web performance optimization (Core Web Vitals, CDN, caching, lazy loading)
- Experience leading technical discovery, architecture design, and development teams
- Experience working in consulting or agency environments handling multiple client engagements
Preferred Skills:
- Shopify Partner or Shopify Plus Certified App Developer Certification
- Experience in healthcare, telehealth, or regulated industries (HIPAA, SOC 2)
- Experience with subscription commerce platforms like Recharge or Skio
- Experience implementing Shopify for DTC health & wellness brands
- Experience setting up Shopify Plus environments from requirements through production launch
