Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Purchase Engineer with strong exposure to procurement in the Plastics / Injection Moulding / Plastic Packaging industry. The candidate will be responsible for sourcing raw materials, engineering components, moulds, tooling, consumables and spares while ensuring optimum cost, quality and timely availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end purchase activities for plastic raw materials, masterbatches, additives, packaging materials, engineering spares, moulds, tooling and bought-out components.
- Identify, evaluate and develop new vendors; maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers.
- Float RFQs, analyse quotations, prepare comparative statements and negotiate price, quality, delivery and payment terms.
- Release and monitor Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure timely material delivery as per production requirements.
- Coordinate with Production, PPC, Quality, Stores, Maintenance, Finance and Accounts for procurement requirements.
- Plan procurement based on production schedules, MRP, inventory levels and supplier lead time.
- Maintain optimum inventory and ensure there is no production stoppage due to material shortages.
- Drive cost reduction, alternate sourcing, vendor development and localization initiatives.
- Monitor vendor performance based on Quality, Cost and Delivery (QCD) and take corrective actions where required.
- Coordinate with suppliers for quality issues, rejection, shortages, delayed deliveries and commercial discrepancies.
- Purchase machine spares, electrical/mechanical components, consumables and maintenance items as required.
- Prepare and maintain MIS reports, purchase records, vendor database, rate contracts and procurement documentation.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company procedures and audit requirements.
- Work on SAP/ERP procurement modules, including PR, PO, GRN and related purchase transactions.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Plastic Raw Materials – PP, PE, ABS, PC, PET, Nylon, etc.
- Good understanding of Injection Moulding / Blow Moulding / Plastic Processing.
- Strong vendor development and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of costing, price benchmarking and cost reduction techniques.
- Good understanding of MRP, inventory control and supply planning.
- Working knowledge of SAP MM / ERP and MS Excel.
- Strong follow-up, analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams.

Candidate Profile
- 3–8 years of relevant Purchase/Procurement experience.
- Experience in plastics manufacturing is preferred/mandatory.
- Engineering qualification preferred.
- Should have hands-on experience in vendor development, negotiation, raw-material procurement and purchase operations.
- Strong commercial and technical understanding of plastic components and materials.
Pay: ₹400,000.00 - ₹540,000.00 per year
