Job Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling the complete production process of PVC Pipes and SWR Fittings manufactured through extrusion and injection moulding machines. The role ensures production targets are achieved while maintaining quality standards, minimizing downtime, optimizing manpower, controlling costs, and ensuring safety and statutory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Control
* Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production plans.
* Ensure achievement of production targets as per dispatch schedule.
* Monitor machine utilization and production efficiency.
* Optimize raw material consumption and reduce wastage.
* Coordinate with Stores, Quality, Maintenance, and Dispatch departments.
Extrusion & Moulding Operations
* Supervise PVC pipe extrusion lines.
* Supervise injection moulding machines for SWR fittings.
* Ensure correct machine settings, process parameters, and production quality.
* Monitor production cycle time and improve productivity.
* Ensure timely mould changeovers and machine setup.
Quality Control
* Ensure products meet BIS/customer specifications.
* Monitor dimensional accuracy, weight, pressure, and visual quality.
* Coordinate with QA/QC for inspection and corrective actions.
* Reduce rejection, rework, and customer complaints.
Machine & Maintenance Coordination
* Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance.
* Minimize machine downtime.
* Monitor machine performance and recommend improvements.
* Ensure proper maintenance of moulds, dies, and auxiliary equipment.
Manpower Management
* Plan manpower deployment shift-wise.
* Supervise operators, supervisors, and helpers.
* Conduct training for machine operation, quality, safety, and SOPs.
* Monitor attendance, discipline, productivity, and performance.
Inventory & Material Control
* Ensure availability of PVC resin, additives, masterbatch, and packing materials.
* Monitor material consumption and maintain production records.
* Control scrap generation and ensure proper recycling.
Safety & Compliance
* Ensure adherence to safety procedures and PPE usage.
* Maintain housekeeping as per 5S standards.
* Follow statutory, environmental, and factory regulations.
* Support ISO, BIS, and internal audits.
Documentation & Reporting
* Prepare daily production reports.
* Monitor production efficiency (OEE), rejection percentage, machine utilization, and downtime.
* Maintain shift reports, machine logs, and production records.
* Submit MIS reports to management.

Required Qualifications
* Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Plastic Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or Production Engineering.
* 8–15 years of experience in PVC Pipe and SWR Fittings manufacturing.
* Minimum 3–5 years in a Production Manager role.
Required Skills
* Strong knowledge of PVC pipe extrusion processes.
* Experience with injection moulding machines.
* Understanding of PVC resin, additives, stabilizers, and formulations.
* Production planning and inventory management.
* Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and Continuous Improvement.
* Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and CAPA implementation.
* Leadership and team management.
* Good communication and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems.
Preferred Experience
* Experience in PVC Pressure Pipes, SWR Pipes, and SWR Fittings manufacturing.
* Knowledge of BIS standards and quality systems.
* Experience handling multiple production shifts and large manufacturing teams.
