We are looking for a technically capable and highly motivated R&D / Process Development Engineer to join an ambitious industrial project focused on biomass valorization, biorefinery development and advanced bio-based materials.
The project aims to develop commercially viable products from renewable biomass, agricultural residues and crops, progressing from basic raw-material conversion toward higher-value industrial, specialty and advanced materials.

Fresh Graduates: Generally not preferred; exceptional candidates with strong technical fundamentals and highly relevant research/project experience may be considered

Areas of Development
The project will explore multiple biomass and agricultural platforms, including:
- Wood & bamboo → charcoal, biochar, activated carbon and specialty carbon materials
- Rice husk → rice husk ash, high-purity silica and functional silica
- Banana pseudostem → natural fiber, cellulose, MCC, nanocellulose and composites
- Clove, nutmeg & cinnamon → essential oils, oleoresins, eugenol and purified botanical compounds
- Biomass pyrolysis → wood vinegar, wood tar and other recoverable chemicals
- Cassava → starch, modified starch, industrial binders, adhesives and bio-based materials
- Longer-term development of advanced biomaterials, composites and functional materials
The candidate is not expected to have expertise in all of these areas. Strong knowledge in one or more relevant fields, combined with the ability to independently research, learn and develop new technologies, is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and evaluate biomass processing and material-development technologies
- Conduct laboratory experiments and develop processing methods
- Prepare process calculations, mass balances and basic techno-economic evaluations
- Develop and optimize process parameters and operating procedures
- Evaluate equipment, machinery and technology suppliers
- Conduct pilot trials and assist with process scale-up
- Develop purification, separation and quality-control procedures
- Troubleshoot processes and improve yield, quality and efficiency
- Prepare technical documentation, specifications and SOPs
- Research scientific literature, patents and commercial technologies
- Use AI and digital tools for technical research, data analysis and technology evaluation
- Assist with equipment trials, plant commissioning and transition toward commercial production
Preferred Educational Background
Candidates with a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctoral degree in:
- Chemical Engineering
- Materials Engineering / Materials Science
- Biotechnology / Bioprocess Engineering
- Chemistry / Industrial Chemistry
- Polymer Engineering / Polymer Science
- Nanotechnology or closely related fields
