About the Role
Indotexnology designs and builds automation machinery, and mechanical engineering defines how every machine moves, holds tolerance, and survives the factory floor. We're looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical design, build, and reliability of our machines end-to-end — from concept and CAD through assembly, trials, and customer-site commissioning.
This is a senior, hands-on role: you'll drive design decisions, mentor junior engineers, and stay close to the shop floor and field.
Core Objective
Own mechanical design through to commissioning across our automation machinery — ensuring seamless coordination between design, manufacturing, controls/electrical, and field execution so machines are robust, accurate, and production-ready.
Key Responsibilities
1. Mechanical Design & CAD
- Lead detailed machine design using SolidWorks / Creo / AutoCAD (3D modeling, assemblies, GD&T)
- Design mechanisms, frames, fixtures, jigs, conveyors, and motion assemblies
- Perform engineering calculations — load, stress, fatigue, power transmission, tolerance stack-up
- Run FEA / simulation where required to validate designs before build
2. Motion, Drives & Mechatronics Coordination
- Select and size motion components: motors, gearboxes, actuators, bearings, linear guides, ball screws, pneumatics/hydraulics
- Work closely with the electrical & PLC team to translate mechanical motion requirements into control specifications
- Support I/O and sensor placement, mechanical interlocks, and safety guarding
3. Troubleshooting & Debugging (core strength)
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues — misalignment, vibration, wear, backlash, jamming, and assembly faults
- Work hands-on during machine assembly, factory trials, and customer-site commissioning
- Drive root-cause analysis and permanent corrective design improvements
4. Field Coordination & Issue Resolution
- Act as the bridge between des design, manufacturing, the controls team, and site execution
- Coordinate with fabrication shops, assembly teams, field engineers, and customers
- Ensure quick closure of on-site mechanical issues
5. Component Selection & Vendor Management
- Select and validate mechanical components, raw materials, and bought-out parts
- Work with vendors and fabricators on procurement, machining, technical clarifications, and quality checks
- Drive cost-effective, manufacturable design choices (DFM/DFA)
6. Testing, Commissioning & Reliability
- Drive mechanical inspections, FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), and SAT (Site Acceptance Test)
- Ensure machines meet cycle-time, accuracy, safety, and uptime targets
- Build reliability and maintainability into the design from the start
7. Documentation & Standardization
- Maintain GA drawings, fabrication drawings, BOMs, and assembly documentation
- Establish and uphold mechanical design standards
- Contribute to modular, reusable machine architectures and a standard parts library
Leadership (Senior Scope)
- Mentor and review the work of junior mechanical engineers and designers
- Own design timelines and deliverables for assigned machines/projects
- Contribute to design reviews, estimation, and feasibility studies
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's/Master's in Mechanical Engineering
- 6+ years designing special-purpose / automation machinery (not just product/component design)
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks / Creo and 2D detailing
- Solid command of GD&T, machine design fundamentals, and material selection
- Hands-on experience taking machines from concept → build → commissioning
- Willingness to travel for site commissioning and support
Nice to Have
- Experience in textile / packaging / process automation machinery
- Exposure to pneumatics, hydraulics, and servo motion systems
- FEA / simulation experience (ANSYS or SolidWorks Simulation)
- Familiarity with relevant safety standards (CE / IS / ISO machine safety)
Pay: ₹32,000.00 - ₹65,000.00 per month
Benefits:
- Cell phone reimbursement
- Food provided
- Paid sick time
- Provident Fund
Work Location: In person
