Job Summary: To provide comprehensive, evidence-based physiotherapy assessment and treatment to inpatients and outpatients, aiming to restore, maintain, and improve physical function and quality of life, in compliance with NABH standards, patient safety norms, and hospital policies.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Clinical Assessment & Treatment
· Perform detailed physiotherapy assessments and formulate individualized treatment plans.
· Deliver physiotherapy interventions for orthopaedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, post-operative, trauma, geriatric, and musculoskeletal conditions.
· Provide ICU-based physiotherapy including chest physiotherapy, airway clearance, early mobilization, positioning, and breathing exercises as prescribed.
· Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans based on clinical response.
2. Inpatient & Outpatient Care
· Provide bedside physiotherapy services to admitted patients.
· Conduct outpatient physiotherapy sessions including exercise therapy, electrotherapy, manual therapy, and rehabilitation programs.
· Ensure continuity of care through proper handover and follow-up.
3. Patient Education & Rehabilitation
· Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, posture correction, mobility aids, and injury prevention.
· Counsel patients regarding lifestyle modification and long-term rehabilitation goals.
· Promote patient adherence to prescribed therapy plans.
4. Documentation & Compliance
· Maintain accurate, complete, and timely physiotherapy records in patient files and electronic medical records (EMR).
· Ensure documentation complies with NABH measurable elements and legal requirements.
· Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement activities, and outcome measurement initiatives.
5. Patient Safety & Infection Control
· Follow infection prevention and control practices including hand hygiene and equipment disinfection.
· Identify and report incidents, near misses, and adverse events as per hospital policy.
· Ensure safe handling, transfer, and mobilization of patients to prevent falls and injuries.
6. Equipment & Resource Management
· Operate and maintain physiotherapy equipment such as electrotherapy units, traction machines, exercise devices, and mobility aids.
· Report equipment malfunction and ensure preventive maintenance.
· Assist in inventory management of consumables and therapy aids.
7. Multidisciplinary Coordination
· Work closely with consultants, nurses, and other allied health professionals to ensure holistic patient care.
· Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and discharge planning as required.
8. Professional Development
· Participate in continuing education programs, workshops, and training sessions.
· Stay updated with current physiotherapy practices and evidence-based guidelines.
· Assist in mentoring junior physiotherapists, interns, and students when assigned.
9. Skills & Competencies

Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Physiotherapy (BPT/MPT).
- Minimum 0-1 years of hospital-based experience in physiotherapy practice.
- Strong clinical knowledge across specialties (orthopedic, neurology, cardiopulmonary, post-operative rehabilitation, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to handle a team and lead departmental operations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Empathy, patience, and a strong commitment to patient care.
