Location: Kodaikanal (On-site) Reports to: Homestay Manager
Job Purpose
To manage the kitchen operations and provide high-quality, hygienic, and authentic meals for guests, ensuring a memorable dining experience that aligns with the warmth of our homestay.
Key Responsibilities
- Meal Preparation: Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner for up to 12–15 guests, focusing on both local South Indian cuisine and popular North Indian/Continental dishes.
- Menu Planning: Assist in creating weekly menus and catering to specific guest requests or dietary restrictions (e.g., Jain, Vegan, or child-friendly meals).
- Sourcing & Inventory: Monitor kitchen stock levels and coordinate with the manager to source fresh, local ingredients from Kodaikanal markets.
- Hygiene & Sanitation: Maintain a "five-star" level of cleanliness in the kitchen, storage areas, and utensils. Ensure all food safety protocols are strictly followed.
- Cost Management: Minimize food wastage through efficient portion control and proper ingredient storage.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 2–5 years of experience in a professional kitchen (Resort, Homestay, or Restaurant).
- Culinary Skill: Strong knowledge of South Indian home-style cooking; ability to handle tandoor or basic baking is a plus.
- Soft Skills: Must be polite, guest-oriented, and capable of working in a quiet, hill-station environment.
- Punctuality: Ability to manage early morning breakfast service and late-evening dinner shifts consistently.
