The Histopathology Technician is responsible for processing tissue specimens for microscopic examination. The role includes specimen handling, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, equipment maintenance, and ensuring compliance with laboratory quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, label, and verify histopathology specimens.
- Perform tissue fixation, processing, embedding, sectioning (microtomy), and routine & special staining procedures.
- Prepare high-quality slides for microscopic examination by the pathologist.
- Maintain tissue processors, microtomes, embedding stations, and other laboratory equipment.
- Ensure proper storage and disposal of specimens and biomedical waste as per regulations.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and laboratory registers/LIS.
- Monitor reagent preparation, stock levels, and inventory of laboratory consumables.
- Follow NABL/NABH guidelines, quality control protocols, and laboratory SOPs.
- Adhere to infection control and laboratory safety practices.
- Assist in internal and external quality assurance programs.
- Perform any other laboratory duties assigned by the Pathologist or Laboratory In-charge.
Qualification:
- B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) / BMLT or
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) with specialization/training in Histopathology.
Experience:
- 2-6 years of experience in a Histopathology laboratory preferred.
- Freshers with relevant internship/training may also be considered.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of histopathology laboratory techniques.
- Proficiency in tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining.
- Familiarity with laboratory quality standards (NABL/NABH).
- Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Pay: ₹28,000.00 - ₹42,000.00 per month
