Job Title: Placement Coordinator (Fully Remote)
Company: Thompson Career College (London Campus, Canada)
Working Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST (6:30 PM – 2:30 AM IST)
Employment Type: Permanent - Full time
About Us
Thompson Career College is a premier Canadian institution committed to delivering industry-relevant training that prepares graduates to excel in their chosen careers. We are expanding our Placement and Career Cell to support a wide range of academic programs and are seeking a driven, systems-minded Placement Coordinator based in India to join our founding team.
As one of our early hires, you will not just coordinate placements—you will help build and refine the employer partnerships, placement tracking systems, and operational workflows from the ground up. This is a high-impact role with a unique opportunity to shape how our Canadian students transition from the classroom into the global workforce.
Note for applicants in India: In the Canadian education system, "Practicum" or "Field Placement" is equivalent to what is commonly known in India as an Internship or Industrial Training—a mandatory period of practical, on-the-job work experience required to graduate. "Graduate Placement" refers to Final Corporate Placements or securing full-time jobs post-graduation.
Key Responsibilities
A. Internship (Practicum) & Field Placement Coordination
- Source & Secure Opportunities: Identify, vet, and secure practicum (internship) sites and corporate partners across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and surrounding regions in Canada for students across various programs.
- Student Matching: Map and match students to appropriate internship sites based on their academic requirements, readiness, and employer capacity.
- Pipeline Management: Build and nurture a robust pipeline of corporate employers, staffing agencies, and industry partners in Canada.
- Onboarding & Compliance: Coordinate internship schedules, site agreements, and ensure students have completed all readiness requirements (e.g., background checks, specific certifications) prior to their start date.
- Relationship Management: Act as the primary remote liaison between students, Canadian corporate supervisors, and our academic staff.
- Monitoring & Support: Track student progress, attendance, and employer feedback during their internships. Proactively address and escalate any performance or site-related concerns.
B. Final Placements & Career Support
- Corporate Placements: Proactively source full-time job opportunities for graduating students by networking with employers, industry associations, and recruitment agencies.
- Career Coaching: Support students with North American-standard resume building, interview preparation, and job-readiness training to maximize post-graduation employment rates.
- Outcome Tracking: Monitor and report on final placement metrics, maintaining accurate records of employment rates and employer feedback.
- Event Coordination: Virtually organize and drive engagement for career fairs, employer meet-and-greets, and recruitment drives for our Canadian campuses.
C. Systems Development & Process Improvement
- Process Architecture: Design, implement, and continuously refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Career Cell.
- CRM Management: Manage and optimize our CRM system to track employer pipelines, student placement statuses, and historical outcomes.
- Data & Dashboards: Build reporting dashboards and tracking tools to provide the leadership team with real-time visibility into placement health and bottlenecks.
- Scalability: Document all workflows meticulously to ensure knowledge transfer and seamless scalability as the college grows.
D. Administration & Reporting
- Maintain highly organized, audit-ready digital records of all corporate agreements, student files, and employer communications.
- Prepare comprehensive weekly and monthly status reports for leadership regarding placement KPIs and student readiness.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with academic teams to align Career Cell activities with curriculum timelines.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Exceptional English Communication: Flawless, native-level proficiency in written and spoken English is strictly required. You must be able to draft highly professional corporate emails, conduct Zoom meetings with North American employers, and coach students confidently.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of direct experience as a Placement Coordinator, Corporate Relations Manager, Recruitment Coordinator, or in a B2B Staffing/Hiring role.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Education, or a related field.
- Systems Expertise: Proven experience building operational systems and SOPs. Strong proficiency with CRM platforms and the ability to configure them for workflow management.
- Tech Savvy: Highly proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive), Zoom, and capable of adapting to new digital tools quickly.
- Independence: Highly organized with strict attention to detail, capable of working independently in a remote-first, night-shift environment with minimal supervision.
Preferred
- Background in career services, university placement cells, or workforce development.
- Familiarity with the Canadian job market, hiring practices, and North American resume standards.
- Experience with data analytics, KPI tracking, and outcome reporting.
Additional Assets
- Experience in a startup or early-stage organization where building processes from scratch was a core function.
- Project management certification or practical experience with tools like Asana, Trello, or Jira.
What We Offer
- High Impact: As a founding team member of the Career Cell, you will directly shape the infrastructure that serves hundreds of future students.
- Global Exposure: Build a massive professional network spanning corporate employers and agencies across Canada.
- Career Growth: Fast-track your career progression as our institution scales, with the potential to transition into a permanent, leadership role.
