Job Summary
The Quality Control Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) fabrication and erection activities comply with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes. The role involves inspection, documentation, quality surveillance, and coordination with clients, consultants, and site teams to ensure timely delivery of quality work.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect fabrication and erection works as per approved drawings and project specifications.
- Verify incoming raw materials, structural steel, bolts, welding consumables, and other materials against approved standards.
- Monitor fabrication processes including cutting, fit-up, welding, drilling, assembly, and painting.
- Conduct visual inspection of welds and coordinate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities when required.
- Ensure compliance with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Records (WQTR).
- Inspect surface preparation and painting works, including DFT (Dry Film Thickness) measurements.
- Monitor bolt tightening, alignment, plumbness, levelness, and structural connections during PEB erection.
- Carry out stage-wise inspections and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITP).
- Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) and monitor corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Prepare and maintain quality documentation including inspection reports, material inspection reports (MIR), requests for inspection (RFI), calibration records, and final quality dossiers.
- Coordinate inspections with clients, consultants, and third-party inspection agencies.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality management requirements and project quality plans.
- Maintain records of quality inspections and support project handover documentation.
- Assist in internal quality audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and site teams to resolve quality-related issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3–10 years of experience in QA/QC for PEB fabrication and structural steel erection.
- Knowledge of structural steel fabrication standards and inspection procedures.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards such as AWS D1.1, IS, AISC, ASTM, and ISO standards.
- CSWIP, AWS-CWI, BGAS, NDT Level II, or ISO 9001 Internal Auditor certification is an added advantage.
