The Khaka Artist is responsible for creating detailed design sketches, layouts, and khakas (blueprints/drawings) that serve as the foundation for embroidery, textile, or craft production. This role requires precision, creativity, and a strong understanding of design aesthetics aligned with client and organizational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop khaka designs based on client briefs, design concepts, or sample references.
- Prepare accurate sketches, layouts, and tracing sheets for embroidery or textile applications.
- Collaborate with designers, merchandisers, and production teams to ensure design feasibility.
- Maintain consistency in motifs, patterns, and proportions across different khakas.
- Ensure timely delivery of khaka artwork for ongoing projects.
- Keep records of approved designs and maintain a design archive.
- Suggest creative inputs for new design developments and trends.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong drawing and sketching ability (manual and digital).
- Knowledge of embroidery motifs, textile patterns, and design elements.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in proportions.
- Ability to visualize and translate concepts into khaka form.
- Familiarity with design software (CorelDRAW, Photoshop, Illustrator) is an added advantage.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Khaka Artist or in embroidery design is preferred.
