About the role
Global Village Chennai is entering the international coconut shell charcoal briquette trade — sourcing from Indonesia and supplying buyers across the Middle East. We are looking for an Export–Import Executive to own the end-to-end trade cycle: supplier follow-up, buyer development, and complete export–import documentation. This is a hands-on role with real ownership and direct impact on the business from day one.
What you'll do
- Supplier coordination (Indonesia): Follow up with coconut charcoal manufacturers, request quotations and samples, collect lab reports and certifications, negotiate pricing and terms, and maintain reliable supplier relationships.
- Buyer development (Middle East): Identify and reach out to distributors, wholesalers, and shisha/hookah supply buyers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and the wider GCC. Build and manage a buyer pipeline.
- Documentation (full cycle): Prepare and process all export–import documents — commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, phytosanitary/fumigation certificates, and the Self-Heating Test (SHT) report required for Dangerous Goods charcoal cargo.
- Logistics & compliance: Coordinate with freight forwarders, CHAs (Customs House Agents), and shipping lines that handle Dangerous Goods cargo. Track shipments and manage timelines.
- Schemes & filings: Support filings on ICEGATE and DGFT portals, including IEC, RCMC, RoDTEP claims, and GST/LUT export documentation.
- Reporting: Maintain trade records, cost sheets, and follow-up trackers, reporting progress directly to management.
What we're looking for
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in export–import operations (commodity or physical-goods trade preferred).
- Solid working knowledge of the complete export–import documentation process — incoterms (FOB, CIF, CNF), L/C and bank payment terms, customs procedures, and shipping documents.
- Comfortable with international supplier and buyer communication over email and WhatsApp; confident, professional written English.
- Familiarity with Dangerous Goods (DG) cargo documentation is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of Indian export schemes (RoDTEP, duty drawback, RCMC, IEC) and the ICEGATE/DGFT portals.
- Self-driven, organized, and able to chase multiple suppliers and buyers in parallel without dropping follow-ups.
Nice to have
- Existing contacts among Middle East importers or Indonesian charcoal/commodity suppliers.
- Experience with customs trade data tools (Volza, ImportGenius) or B2B platforms (Alibaba, TradeKey).
- Additional language ability (Arabic, Bahasa Indonesia, or Hindi) is an advantage.
What we offer
- A founding role in a new trade vertical with room to grow into a trade-desk lead.
- Direct work with management and real decision-making ownership.
- Salary range — ₹25,000–45,000/per month, based on experience
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
Benefits:
- Cell phone reimbursement
- Internet reimbursement
- Provident Fund
