Production Manager:
Manufacturing Plant — Full-Time Position Department
Manufacturing Plant (On-site) Employment Type
Full-Time, Permanent Experience Required
7–10 years (manufacturing + project management)
Position Summary:
The Production Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of daily manufacturing operations, ensuring production targets are met on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role serves as the operational backbone of the plant, bridging strategic directives from plant leadership with shop-floor execution. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in project management — applying structured planning, risk management, and continuous improvement disciplines to every aspect of production.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Planning & Execution:
. Plan, schedule, and oversee all production activities to meet daily, weekly, and monthly output targets.
. Translate production orders into actionable shift-level work plans, coordinating across all three shifts.
, Monitor WIP (work-in-progress) and adjust schedules dynamically to address bottlenecks or downtime.
. Coordinate with Supply Chain to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules.
Project Management & Continuous Improvement:
. Apply project management methodologies (PMI/PMBOK, Agile, or equivalent) to new product introductions, line changeovers, and capacity expansion projects.
. Lead structured problem-solving initiatives using tools such as 8D, DMAIC, or A3 to resolve recurring production issues.
. Drive Lean / Six Sigma projects aimed at reducing cycle time, waste, and production costs.
. Track and report key project milestones, risks, and KPIs to plant leadership on a regular cadence.
Quality Assurance Integration:
. Embed quality checkpoints into production workflows, ensuring defects are caught early rather than at final inspection.
. Work alongside the Quality team to investigate non-conformances, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
. Maintain production documentation — travellers, work instructions, batch records — to meet ISO/GMP or applicable quality standards.
People Management:
. Directly supervise Production Managers, Shift Supervisors and, through them, Line Leaders and Operators across all shifts.
. Conduct performance reviews, identify skill gaps, and develop training plans for the production team.
. Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement on the shop floor.
. Support HR in hiring, onboarding, and disciplinary processes for production staff.
Safety & Compliance:
. Champion EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) standards on the production floor; lead by example.
. Ensure all production activities comply with statutory regulations, internal policies, and customer requirements.
. Participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and the implementation of corrective measures.
Reporting & Communication:
Prepare and present daily/weekly production reports including output, efficiency, downtime, and quality metrics.
Participate in cross-functional meetings with Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Finance.
Escalate critical production risks to the Plant Manager in a timely and structured manner.
Education:
. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
. PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent is strongly preferred.
. Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a strong advantage.
Experience:
. 7–10 years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
. Demonstrated experience managing production improvement or capital projects using formal PM frameworks.
. Hands-on experience with ERP/MES systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) for production scheduling and reporting.
. Exposure to ISO 9001, IATF 16949, GMP, or other applicable quality management system.
