Position - Physiotherapist (Paediatric Physiotherapist)

About the Role
OMKILKARI Child Development Centre is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and skilled Physiotherapist to join our multidisciplinary team. The Physiotherapist will work with infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents experiencing developmental, neurological, musculoskeletal, and movement-related challenges.
The role involves assessing children's motor development, movement patterns, posture, balance, coordination, strength, and functional abilities, and delivering evidence-based physiotherapy interventions to maximize independence, mobility, and participation in everyday activities. The Physiotherapist will work closely with paediatricians, developmental specialists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists, special educators, and families to provide holistic, child-centred care.
Key ResponsibilitiesAssessment & Evaluation
- Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments to evaluate gross motor development, muscle strength, posture, balance, coordination, gait, range of motion, muscle tone, reflexes, and functional mobility.
- Assess developmental milestones and identify delays affecting movement and physical function.
- Evaluate each child's participation in home, school, and community activities.
- Establish measurable therapy goals in collaboration with parents and the multidisciplinary team.
Treatment Planning & Intervention
- Develop individualized physiotherapy treatment plans based on clinical findings and developmental goals.
- Provide evidence-based physiotherapy interventions to improve:

- Conduct play-based, age-appropriate, and child-centred therapy sessions.
- Prescribe therapeutic exercises, stretching programmes, strengthening activities, balance training, gait training, and functional movement exercises.
- Recommend adaptive equipment, positioning devices, orthoses, mobility aids, and environmental modifications where appropriate.

Progress Monitoring & Documentation
- Monitor each child's progress using standardized developmental and functional outcome measures.
- Modify treatment plans according to clinical progress and developmental needs.
- Maintain accurate assessment reports, treatment records, progress notes, and clinical documentation.
- Ensure confidentiality and secure maintenance of patient records.
Parent & Caregiver Education
- Educate parents regarding developmental milestones, home exercise programmes, positioning, handling techniques, and safe movement practices.
- Demonstrate exercises and therapeutic activities that can be continued at home.
- Guide caregivers on posture, mobility, transfers, and adaptive equipment usage.
- Encourage active family participation throughout the rehabilitation process.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with Developmental Paediatricians, Paediatricians, Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Child Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Special Educators, Behaviour Therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, treatment planning meetings, and parent counselling sessions.
- Coordinate with schools and teachers whenever required to facilitate participation in educational and recreational activities.
Professional Development & Quality
- Follow organizational policies, infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, and ethical guidelines.
- Participate in workshops, continuing education programmes, and professional training.
- Stay updated with current evidence-based paediatric physiotherapy practices and advances in child rehabilitation.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and maintain high standards of clinical care.
QualificationsEssential
- Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy (BPT) from a recognized institution.
Preferred
- Master's Degree in Physiotherapy (MPT), preferably in Paediatric, Neurological, or Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.
- Valid registration with the relevant State Physiotherapy Council or regulatory authority, wherever applicable.
- Certification or additional training in Paediatric Physiotherapy, Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT), Early Intervention, or related areas will be an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong clinical assessment and problem-solving abilities.
- Thorough understanding of child growth and motor development.
- Knowledge of paediatric neurological and developmental conditions.
- Proficiency in therapeutic exercise prescription, motor development, gait training, and posture correction.
- Excellent communication and counselling skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and child-friendly approach.
- Ability to motivate children using play-based therapeutic techniques.
- Strong documentation and report-writing skills.
- Good organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Experience
- Fresh graduates with successful internship completion are encouraged to apply.
- Candidates with 1–3 years of experience in Child Development Centres, Early Intervention Centres, Paediatric Hospitals, Rehabilitation Centres, or similar settings will be preferred.
- Experience in paediatric neurological rehabilitation, developmental physiotherapy, or early intervention programmes will be an added advantage.
Work Environment
The Physiotherapist will work exclusively within the OMKILKARI Child Development Centre, providing individualized and group-based physiotherapy services for infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents with developmental, neurological, and movement-related challenges. The role involves close collaboration with families and a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based, family-centred care that promotes mobility, functional independence, participation, and overall physical development.
