Here is a clean, crisp, and professional Job Description (JD) tailored for a Consultant Endovascular Neurosurgeon.
Neurosurgery / Neuro-Interventional Surgery
The Consultant Endovascular Neurosurgeon will specialize in diagnosing and treating complex cerebrovascular and spinal vascular disorders. This role utilizes both traditional open microsurgical methods and modern, minimally invasive endovascular techniques (working inside the blood vessels via catheters) to deliver comprehensive care for conditions like stroke, aneurysms, and vascular malformations.
Clinical Assessment & Diagnosis: Conduct detailed neurological evaluations, emergency screenings, and interpret high-level imaging including Cerebral Angiography, CT/MR Angiograms, and perfusion scans.
Surgical Procedures (Endovascular & Open):
Perform endovascular interventions such as Mechanical Thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke, Aneurysm Coiling/Flow Diversion, AVM/AVF Embolization, and Carotid Artery Stenting.
Perform open microsurgical procedures when indicated (e.g., aneurysm clipping, carotid endarterectomy, or hematoma evacuation).
Emergency & Stroke Care: Lead or actively participate in the rapid-response acute stroke team, managing emergency cases like subarachnoid hemorrhages or acute vessel occlusions.
ICU & Post-Operative Management: Oversee patient care within the Neuro-ICU, monitoring neurological recovery, managing cerebral perfusion, and mitigating post-procedure risks like vasospasm.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner closely with Neurologists, Interventional Radiologists, Neuro-Anesthetists, and Critical Care teams to determine optimized, patient-specific treatment paths.
