Job Title: Electrical Safety Officer / Electrical Safety Engineer
Job Summary:
Monitor, evaluate, and enforce electrical safety standards to protect personnel, equipment, and facilities from electrical hazards. Conduct inspections, risk assessments, training, and incident investigations while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct electrical safety inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and work practices.
- Identify electrical hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and standards such as:
- NFPA 70E
- IEC standards
- OSHA requirements (where applicable)
- National electrical codes
- Review electrical system designs and maintenance procedures for safety compliance.
- Develop and implement electrical safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Perform risk assessments, hazard analyses, and arc-flash studies.
- Monitor lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Investigate electrical incidents, near misses, and accidents.
- Prepare safety reports and maintain documentation.
- Conduct electrical safety training and awareness programs for employees and contractors.
- Coordinate emergency response plans related to electrical hazards.
- Recommend and verify the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulations.
- Experience in industrial, construction, manufacturing, power generation, or utility environments.
- Understanding of:
- High-voltage and low-voltage systems
- Arc-flash hazards
- Grounding and bonding
- Protective relays and switchgear
- Electrical maintenance practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP)
- NEBOSH (Safety Qualification)
- OSHA Safety Certification
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Electrical Supervisor License (where required)
