Role Summary
The Geotechnical Laboratory Engineer/ Laboratory Geologist will be responsible for conducting laboratory testing on soil, rock, and geological samples, maintaining accurate test records, and supporting report preparation in full compliance with applicable national/international standards and NABL quality requirements. This role requires a strong understanding of both soil/rock mechanics and geological parameters, making it ideal for professionals with hands-on testing experience looking for long-term career growth in an accredited laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct standard and advanced laboratory tests on soil, rock, and mineral/geological samples in accordance with relevant codes (IS/ASTM/BS).
- Maintain complete, accurate, and structured technical documentation for all laboratory testing activities.
- Perform basic data analysis, backup calculations, and graphical plotting to support test report preparation.
- Ensure strict compliance with laboratory testing standards and NABL quality management system requirements.
- Contribute to process optimization, quality control, and testing accuracy within the laboratory.
Qualifications & Experience
Eligibility:
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Applied Geology, or a relevant discipline in Applied Sciences.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of hands-on laboratory experience in geotechnical, soil, or rock/geological testing.
Required Skills:
- Practical expertise in soil and rock sample testing protocols and sample preparation techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) for technical data entry, calculations, and reporting.
- Proficiency with graphing and plotting tools for presenting lab data and curves.
- Strong organizational skills and sharp attention to detail in record-keeping.
Preferred Skills:
- In-depth understanding of standard testing methods (IS / ASTM / BS codes) and their practical application in geotechnical and geological contexts.
- Familiarity with laboratory quality management systems and NABL documentation requirements.
- Working knowledge of CAD software.
Pay: ₹225,000.00 - ₹325,000.00 per year
