About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Database & Server Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our critical database and server infrastructure. The successful candidate will have strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration, hands-on experience with web servers such as IIS and Apache, and a solid background in server administration. The role also requires working knowledge of cloud environments and automation using Ansible. Key Responsibilities
- Database Administration: Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances across development, staging, and production environments.
- Backup & Recovery: Design, implement, and test database backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies to safeguard business-critical data.
- Performance Tuning: Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, tune queries and indexes, and optimize stored procedures for maximum efficiency.
- Web Server Management: Administer and maintain web servers including IIS and Apache — deployment, configuration, SSL/TLS, virtual hosts, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Server Administration: Manage Windows and Linux server environments including provisioning, hardening, patching, monitoring, and capacity planning.
- Automation & Scripting: Knowledge to automate configuration management, deployments, and routine administrative tasks.
- Security & Compliance: Implement access controls, auditing, and security best practices for databases and servers; ensure compliance with internal policies and industry standards.
- Monitoring & Incident Response: Set up proactive monitoring and alerting; respond to incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and drive issues to resolution within defined SLAs.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of configurations, procedures, runbooks, and architecture diagrams.
- Collaboration: Work closely with developers, DevOps, and application teams to support deployments, troubleshoot issues, and recommend infrastructure improvements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in database and server administration.
- Strong, hands-on knowledge of database administration, preferably Microsoft SQL Server (installation, configuration, T-SQL, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and high availability).
- Proven experience administering web servers such as IIS and Apache HTTP Server.
- Solid server administration skills across Windows Server and Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu) environments.
- Hands-on scripting and automation experience (playbooks, roles, inventories).
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, load balancing).
- Good problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Required Certification
- A valid Microsoft Database certification is required — for example, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, MCSA: SQL Server, or an equivalent Microsoft database-focused credential.
Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills
- Experience with SQL Server High Availability and Disaster Recovery features (Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, Replication).
- Familiarity with PowerShell and Bash scripting in addition to Ansible.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
