Manager – EV Fleet Technology & Waste Management OperationsJob Summary
We are looking for a technically competent and operations-oriented professional to manage an application used for monitoring electric vehicles deployed in Solid Waste Management and Municipal Waste Management projects.
The position will be responsible for overseeing the EV fleet-management application, GPS tracking, vehicle deployment, route monitoring, data accuracy, system uptime, operational reporting and coordination with municipal teams, project teams, drivers, vehicle manufacturers and technology vendors.
The ideal candidate should understand fleet operations, GPS/telematics systems and mobile or web-based applications. Experience in municipal solid waste management, electric vehicles or smart-city projects will be an advantage.
Key ResponsibilitiesEV Fleet Application Management
- Manage the day-to-day functioning of the EV fleet-management and vehicle-tracking application.
- Monitor vehicle location, movement, routes, trips, stoppages, attendance, distance travelled and operational utilisation.
- Ensure that all vehicles, drivers, routes, wards, projects and user details are correctly mapped in the application.
- Create and manage user access for project teams, supervisors, municipal officials and management.
- Coordinate with the software development team for enhancements, new features, testing and issue resolution.
- Identify system errors, data mismatches and operational gaps and ensure timely correction.
- Maintain master data and ensure the accuracy, security and availability of fleet information.
EV Fleet Monitoring
- Monitor live vehicle movement through GPS and telematics systems.
- Track vehicle availability, utilisation, charging status, battery performance and breakdowns.
- Identify route deviations, excessive stoppages, unauthorised use, speeding, idling and missed trips.
- Monitor vehicle charging schedules and coordinate with charging-station and maintenance teams.
- Analyse vehicle performance, energy consumption, range and operational efficiency.
- Support preventive maintenance planning based on kilometres travelled, vehicle usage and system alerts.
Solid Waste Management Operations
- Monitor EV deployment for door-to-door waste collection, secondary transportation and other municipal operations.
- Ensure vehicles follow assigned routes, wards, collection points and operating schedules.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, Control Room Teams, Drivers and Municipal Officers.
- Track daily waste-collection trips, missed locations, service delays and operational exceptions.
- Support the integration of vehicle-tracking data with attendance, weighbridge, route-planning and waste-management systems.
- Help improve route efficiency, fleet productivity and service coverage.
Reporting and Analytics
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly fleet-performance reports.
- Develop dashboards covering:
- Fleet availability and utilisation
- Vehicle-wise and project-wise performance
- Planned trips versus completed trips
- Route deviations and missed trips
- Vehicle downtime and breakdowns
- Battery and charging performance
- Distance travelled and energy consumption
- GPS and device health
- Driver performance
- Project-wise service-level compliance
- Provide accurate MIS reports to management and municipal clients.
- Analyse data and recommend measures to reduce downtime, operating costs and service failures.
- Maintain records required for internal review, client meetings, audits and contractual reporting.
Vendor and Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with EV manufacturers, GPS vendors, software providers, charging partners and maintenance agencies.
- Follow up on application issues, GPS device failures, SIM/network problems and data-sync errors.
- Conduct user training for site teams, drivers, supervisors and municipal users.
- Support application demonstrations, project implementation and new-site onboarding.
- Maintain issue trackers and ensure timely closure of operational and technical problems.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Computer Applications, Information Technology, Automobile Engineering, Operations Management or a related field.
- Relevant experience in fleet-management applications, GPS tracking, telematics, EV fleet operations, logistics technology or municipal projects.
- Practical knowledge of mobile and web applications, dashboards and reporting systems.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, lookups and data analysis.
- Ability to understand technical issues and coordinate effectively with software developers and field teams.
- Willingness to travel to municipal project locations whenever required.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in Solid Waste Management, Municipal Waste Management or Smart City projects.
- Experience managing electric commercial vehicles or municipal collection vehicles.
- Familiarity with GPS devices, IoT sensors, geofencing, APIs and vehicle telematics.
- Understanding of EV charging infrastructure, battery performance and vehicle maintenance.
- Experience interacting with Urban Local Bodies, municipal corporations or government departments.
