Join us at Ampere and work alongside a passionate and growing team - we’d love to have you apply!
About the role:
Join Ampere's elite Processor Design group as a key technical leader. We are looking for a Sr. Principal Engineer to drive our approach to digital circuit implementation and performance benchmarking for next-generation, high-performance CPUs and GPUs.
This is a highly visible and hands-on role where you will apply your deep expertise to influence the foundation-IP development of our products. You will be responsible for leading the evaluation of standard cell libraries, designing specialized custom circuits, and establishing methodologies that ensure we meet aggressive Power, Performance, and Area (PPA) goals. Collaborating with experts across Circuit, Logic, and Physical Design, you will provide critical technical recommendations that directly impact the PPA of Ampere's flagship products on advanced FinFET and GAA technology nodes
What you’ll achieve:
-
Design and analysis of novel standard cell circuits to optimize the PPA of critical processor units, tackling complex design challenges.
-
Establish and refine the end-to-end methodology for benchmarking and evaluating third-party and internal standard cell libraries, ensuring we make data-driven, optimal IP choices.
-
Drive deep-dive technical investigations into PPA trade-offs between different circuit and library solutions. Define rigorous Design of Experiments (DOE) and present clear, actionable conclusions to technical leadership.
-
Act as a key technical interface, collaborating closely with CPU/GPU architects and physical design teams to ensure successful integration of new circuits. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to other engineers in the group.
About you:
-
Bachelor's degree with 12+ years or Master’s degree with 8+ years of experience in Digital Circuit implementation
- Expertise with circuit design and timing modelling of standard cells including complex combinational and sequential flops
- Proven hands-on experience with various EDA tools for synthesis, place-route, Verilog simulation, spice simulation, DRC/LVS, RC extraction and power analysis
- Proficiency with Cadence design suite for layout and schematic entry
-
Strong scripting skills (Python, Tcl, or Perl) for automation, data analysis, and methodology development.
-
Familiarity with design-for-test concepts
What we’ll offer:
At Ampere we believe in taking care of our employees and providing a competitive total rewards package that includes base pay, cash long-term incentive, and comprehensive benefits.
Benefits highlights include:
-
Premium medical, dental, vision insurance, parental benefits including creche reimbursement, as well as a retirement plan, so that you can feel secure in your health, financial future and child care during work.
-
Generous paid time off policy so that you can embrace a healthy work-life balance
-
Fully catered lunch in our office along with a variety of healthy snacks, energizing coffee or tea, and refreshing drinks to keep you fueled and focused throughout the day.
And there is much more than compensation and benefits. At Ampere, we foster an inclusive culture that empowers our employees to do more and grow more. We are excited to share more about our career opportunities with you through the interview process.
