Job Summary
The Modern Trade Sales Executive/Manager will be responsible for developing and managing business with Modern Trade retail chains. The role focuses on achieving sales targets, ensuring product availability, executing promotional activities, managing key accounts, and maintaining strong relationships with category buyers and store management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and expand business with Modern Trade retailers such as Reliance Retail, DMart, Spencer's, More Retail, Star Bazaar, Nature's Basket, Metro Cash & Carry, and other regional chains.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Category Managers and Buying Teams.
- Negotiate commercial terms, promotional plans, listing fees, and annual business agreements.
- Ensure timely product listing and placement across stores.
- Monitor product availability, stock replenishment, and minimize out-of-stock situations.
- Plan and execute in-store promotions, displays, and visibility programs.
- Coordinate with distributors, supply chain, warehouse, and logistics teams for timely deliveries.
- Track secondary sales, inventory, sell-through, and return management.
- Resolve customer complaints and operational issues promptly.
- Monitor competitor pricing, promotions, and market activities.
- Prepare sales forecasts, demand planning, and business development strategies.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports and sales analysis.
- Ensure timely collection of outstanding payments and maintain healthy receivables.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team for product launches and promotional campaigns.
- Travel regularly to meet customers and visit stores.

Required Skills
- Strong Modern Trade sales experience in FMCG.
- Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Sound knowledge of Modern Trade operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Good understanding of sales planning and forecasting.
- Ability to work under pressure and achieve targets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP systems.
Preferred Experience
- 3–8 years of experience in Modern Trade Sales within the FMCG industry.
- Experience handling national and regional retail chains.
- Existing relationships with Modern Trade buyers will be an added advantage.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce, or a related field.
- MBA in Sales & Marketing will be preferred.
