Role Overview
The Fashion Designer Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end design process, supervising the design team, ensuring timely execution of collections, and maintaining alignment with brand aesthetics, market trends, and commercial goals.
This role combines creative leadership, production coordination, and team management to deliver high-quality, market-ready collections.
Key Responsibilities
1. Creative Direction & Design Oversight
- Supervise and guide the design team in developing seasonal collections.
- Ensure designs align with brand identity, target audience, and price positioning.
- Approve mood boards, fabric selections, silhouettes, trims, and color palettes.
- Conduct regular design reviews and provide constructive feedback.
2. Product Development Management
- Oversee sampling, pattern development, and prototype approvals.
- Coordinate with sourcing and production teams for fabrics, trims, and embellishments.
- Ensure fit, finishing, and quality standards are maintained.
- Monitor timelines to meet collection launch schedules.
3. Trend & Market Research
- Analyze domestic and international fashion trends.
- Study competitor brands and pricing structures.
- Translate market research into commercially viable designs.
4. Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor junior designers and interns.
- Allocate tasks and monitor performance.
- Encourage innovation while maintaining operational discipline.
5. Vendor & Production Coordination
- Liaise with vendors, factories, and sampling units.
- Conduct quality checks during production.
- Resolve technical design issues during manufacturing.
6. Budget & Cost Control
- Work closely with merchandising to ensure designs meet costing targets.
- Suggest alternatives to maintain margins without compromising aesthetics.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s / Diploma in Fashion Design.
- 5–8 years of experience in fashion design.
- Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction and fabric behavior.
- Proficiency in design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW).
