Lactation Consultant – Clinical Advisor

Ooru is building a new standard of postpartum care for mothers by combining clinical expertise with continuous, personalized support through the first year after birth.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to join Ooru as a Clinical Advisor.
This is a senior consulting role focused on building the lactation program, supporting the clinical team, and providing expert guidance on complex cases.
The advisor will serve as a senior escalation point when Ooru's lactation consultants or nurses encounter cases that require advanced expertise.
This role is suited to someone who enjoys clinical mentorship, program development, training, and improving standards of care, rather than providing routine day-to-day consultations.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Advisory
- Provide expert guidance on complex lactation and infant-feeding cases.
- Act as an escalation point for Ooru's lactation consultants and nurses.
- Review challenging cases and recommend appropriate care or referrals.
- Support selected cases where advanced lactation expertise is required.
Program Development
- Help design and strengthen Ooru's lactation care program.
- Develop and review clinical protocols, care pathways, and escalation guidelines.
- Establish quality standards and evidence-based practices for lactation support.
Training & Mentorship
- Train and mentor Ooru's lactation consultants and nurses.
- Conduct case discussions, clinical reviews, and knowledge sessions.
- Support the team in developing stronger clinical decision-making and confidence.
Clinical Quality
- Review lactation-related protocols, educational material, and care practices.
- Provide ongoing input to improve the quality, consistency, and safety of Ooru's lactation services.
Required Qualifications
- IBCLC certification is mandatory.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in lactation consulting or maternal-infant care.
- Relevant healthcare qualification in Nursing, Midwifery, Medicine, Nutrition, or a related field.
- Strong experience managing breastfeeding and infant-feeding concerns.
- Demonstrated experience with complex lactation cases.
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to guide other healthcare professionals.
Preferred Experience
- Training or mentoring lactation consultants or healthcare professionals.
- Designing lactation or maternal-infant care programs.
- Developing clinical protocols or SOPs.
- Experience with NICU, premature infants, relactation, low milk supply, pumping, mixed feeding, or other complex feeding situations.
- Experience conducting professional training, workshops, or case reviews.
