Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Purchase Executive – Engineering to manage engineering procurement activities, supplier development and coordination with internal departments. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of forgings, castings, machining, fabrication, bought-out components and industrial consumables, along with the ability to understand engineering drawings and material specifications.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering Procurement
- Manage procurement of engineering components, materials and industrial consumables.
- Source and purchase forgings, castings, machined components, fabricated parts and bought-out components.
- Understand technical specifications, material grades and quality requirements before procurement.
- Coordinate with internal teams to understand material requirements and delivery schedules.
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
2. Engineering Drawing & Technical Understanding
- Read and understand engineering drawings, component specifications and material specifications.
- Coordinate with Engineering/Development and Quality teams regarding technical requirements.
- Clarify technical specifications with suppliers wherever required.
- Evaluate supplier capability against drawing and specification requirements.
3. Supplier Development & Management
- Identify and develop new suppliers for engineering components.
- Evaluate suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery capability and technical competence.
- Maintain effective relationships with existing suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times and commercial terms with suppliers.
- Conduct supplier performance reviews and initiate corrective actions where required.
4. Quality Coordination
- Coordinate closely with the Quality Department regarding:
- Customer complaints
- In-house rejection
- Supplier-related quality issues
- Follow up with suppliers for corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure recurring quality issues are addressed effectively.
5. Cost & Purchase Management
- Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers.
- Support cost negotiation and cost reduction initiatives.
- Ensure purchases are made within approved commercial and quality requirements.
- Maintain proper purchase documentation and records.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of engineering procurement.
- Good understanding of forgings, castings, machining and fabrication.
- Knowledge of bought-out components and industrial consumables.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of material specifications.
- Strong supplier development and vendor management skills.
- Negotiation and commercial skills.
- Good follow-up and coordination skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with Engineering, Quality, Stores and other internal departments.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office.
Education & Experience
- DME / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or BE/B.Tech Mechanical Engineering.
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in engineering/manufacturing purchase.
- Experience in sourcing engineering components and managing manufacturing suppliers will be preferred.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be a technically sound Mechanical Engineering professional with strong hands-on experience in engineering purchase and supplier management. The candidate should be comfortable working with engineering drawings, manufacturing processes and suppliers and should have strong follow-up and negotiation abilities.
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
