A Mother Teacher is responsible for teaching all or most subjects to a single group of primary class students (usually Nursery to Grade 2 ). The role focuses on nurturing young learners by creating a safe, caring, and supportive classroom environment while building their basic academic and social skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach multiple subjects such as English, Mathematics, EVS, and basic General Knowledge
Handle one class as a class teacher and take responsibility for overall student development
Prepare lesson plans and age-appropriate learning activities
Use creative teaching methods like storytelling, rhymes, games, and activity-based learning
Develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, and basic numeracy skills
Monitor and evaluate students’ academic and behavioral progress
Maintain student records, attendance, and report cards
Ensure discipline and create a positive, caring classroom environment
Provide emotional support and guidance to young children
Communicate regularly with parents regarding students’ progress and well-being
Organize and participate in school activities, celebrations, and events
Eligibility Criteria:
Bachelor’s degree (any subject)
Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) or B.Ed (preferred)
Nursery Teacher Training (NTT) certification is an advantage
CTET/TET qualification (as required by the institution)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, empathy, and nurturing attitude
Creativity in teaching methods
Strong classroom management skills
Ability to handle young children with care and understanding
