We are looking for a Senior Merchandiser to own the intersection of fabric sourcing, production planning, and inventory management. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role that sits at the heart of how we build and deliver product.
You will work closely with our design and product team internally, and with fabric mills, yarn suppliers, and our manufacturing unit externally. The role demands someone who understands the full journey from fibre to finished garment — and can plan, negotiate, and execute across that pipeline with precision.
What You'll Do
Fabric Sourcing & Vendor Management
- Identify, evaluate, and coordinate with fabric mills and yarn suppliers — with a focus on knit and hosiery-specific constructions (modal, cotton-spandex, nylon-spandex, and performance fabrics)
- Negotiate pricing, MOQs, lead times, and payment terms with fabric and trims vendors
- Maintain and develop a vendor ecosystem that supports both current product lines and new category entries (including activewear)
- Conduct periodic mill visits and quality audits; ensure consistency in fabric quality across dye lots and seasons
- Track and manage yarn-stage and fabric-stage procurement.
Production Planning & Capacity Management
- Develop and manage the production calendar in alignment with launch timelines and sales forecasts
- Coordinate with the manufacturing unit on capacity allocation, and production scheduling across SKUs and styles
- Track order status at each production stage — cut, sew, finishing, packing — and flag delays proactively
- Work with the design team to ensure technical specifications, size sets, and pre-production samples are approved within planned timelines
- Manage sampling cycles: proto, fit, pre-production, and TOP (top of production) approvals
Inventory & Demand Planning
- Translate sales forecasts and channel-wise demand signals into fabric and production buy plans
- Manage raw material inventory at the mill and warehouse level to minimise excess while protecting against stockouts
- Track inventory aging and coordinate with the operations team on replenishment and clearance decisions
- Support new product launches with accurate production quantity planning across size curves and colourways
What We're Looking For
- 5–8 years of merchandising experience in apparel, with specific exposure to innerwear, knits, or hosiery strongly preferred
- Hands-on familiarity with fabric constructions relevant to innerwear and activewear: modal, cotton-modal blends, nylon-spandex, polyester-spandex, and related performance fabrics
- Proven experience managing vendor relationships with mills in Tirupur.
- Strong working knowledge of the full production cycle: from fabric procurement through to finished goods delivery
- Ability to read and work from tech packs; experience with fit approval and pre-production sample processes
- Comfortable working across both internal teams (design, ops, founders) and external partners (mills, manufacturers, logistics)
- Proficient in Excel / Google Sheets for planning and tracking; experience with any merchandising or ERP tool is a plus
- Self-directed, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple styles and deadlines simultaneously without losing visibility
What This Role Is Not
A coordinator role where you relay information between teams. A position where someone else owns the plan and you execute tasks. A comfortable back-seat function.
What It Is
A role with real ownership over a critical part of how &Circus builds product. Direct access to founders. The opportunity to shape sourcing and planning infrastructure at a brand that is scaling fast and doing things differently.
