Project: Enterprise Crystal Reports to Power BI / Microsoft Fabric Migration
- 7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or BI development, with strong expertise in Power BI and modern analytics platforms.
- Participate in a large-scale Crystal Reports to Power BI / Microsoft Fabric migration program, covering discovery, pilot, and multiple execution waves.
- Analyze and interpret existing Crystal Reports, formulas, business rules, calculations, and reporting logic and translate them into scalable Power BI solutions.
- Develop advanced DAX measures, calculated columns, Power Query transformations, and Dataflow logic to achieve functional parity with legacy Crystal Reports.
- Build and maintain Microsoft Fabric components, including Dataflows Gen2, Lakehouse, Notebooks, Pipelines, and supporting data-processing workflows.
- Design and maintain control tables and migration tracking mechanisms, ensuring accurate tracking of reports, datasets, migration status, and execution progress.
- Register migrated Power BI reports and semantic models within established control frameworks and maintain accurate migration inventories.
- Configure and implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS) across Power BI semantic models based on business and security requirements.
- Perform detailed parity and validation testing, ensuring migrated Power BI reports accurately reproduce the business logic, calculations, and output of the original Crystal Reports.
- Execute report export, operational, regression, and data validation testing during each migration wave and document identified discrepancies.
- Work closely with Business Analysts, Data Engineers, Product Owners, and business stakeholders to understand legacy reporting requirements and resolve functional gaps.
- Participate in migration wave planning, execution tracking, status reporting, issue resolution, and stakeholder sign-off activities.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, Power Query, SQL, and semantic model development.
- Possess intermediate-to-advanced expertise in Microsoft Fabric, including Dataflows Gen2, Lakehouse, Notebooks, Pipelines, and enterprise data workflows, along with the ability to understand and troubleshoot Crystal Reports logic.
- PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst) or DP-600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer) certification is an added advantage, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
