Job Summary
The Stores Assistant is responsible for managing the inventory and storage of materials, equipment, and supplies. This role ensures timely procurement of quality goods and efficient storage, while maintaining optimal stock levels and accurate records.
Stores/Inventory Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and record incoming materials and reconcile with purchase orders.
- Organize and maintain storage areas for easy access and safety.
- Maintain stock levels and initiate purchase requisitions to replenish materials.
- Conduct periodic stock audits and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Issue materials to departments as per requisitions and update inventory systems.
- Handle discrepancies, damage reports, and returns to vendors as needed.
- Ensure FIFO (First-In, First-Out) or LIFO practices are followed as per policy.
Purchase Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate suppliers based on quality, price, service, and reliability.
- Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions for materials and services.
- Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve procurement-related issues.
- Maintain updated supplier records and contracts.
- Coordinate with internal departments to forecast procurement needs.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
