- A Medical Billing Executive serves as the crucial financial link between healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies. They manage the revenue cycle by ensuring accurate coding, submitting claims, posting payments, and resolving billing discrepancies to guarantee timely reimbursements.
- Core Responsibilities
- Claim Generation & Submission: Prepare and submit medical claims to primary and secondary insurance companies while ensuring adherence to CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding standards.
- Insurance Verification: Confirm patient coverage, identify pre-authorization requirements, and understand plan limitations before medical services are rendered.
- Payment Posting: Accurately record and post insurance remittances and patient payments to individual ledgers.
- Denial Management: Monitor unpaid or denied claims, investigate the root causes of rejections, and prepare necessary appeals or claim resubmissions.
- Patient Invoicing: Generate clear, detailed statements for patients outlining their financial responsibility, including co-pays, deductibles, and prior payments.
- Record Maintenance: Update and maintain comprehensive, highly confidential billing records in electronic health record (EHR) and Hospital Management Systems (HMS).
