Job Summary
Responsible for the end-to-end management of IBM MQ environments. This role focuses on ensuring the seamless deployment, high availability, and secure communication of messaging middleware components that support critical business applications. The candidate will handle everything from initial setup to complex troubleshooting and performance reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities Installation & Configuration: Execute the installation and configuration of IBM MQ on various operating systems (Linux/Unix/Windows). Set up Queue Managers and MQ Objects (Queues, Channels, Listeners). Administration & Monitoring: Perform daily administration of MQ environments, including starting/stopping services and managing MQ clusters. Monitor system health using tools like IBM Tivoli, Dynatrace, or native consoles to ensure 99.9% uptime. SSL Setup & Certificate Management: Implement and manage end-to-end SSL/TLS security for MQ. Handle KeyStore/TrustStore creation, Certificate Signing Request (CSR) generation, and the renewal/importing of digital certificates to ensure secure data transmission. Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Identify, analyze, and resolve platform-level issues. Troubleshoot recurring problems such as MQ channel failures. Provide detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for high-priority incidents. Repository Maintenance: Maintain and update the technical repository, including version control for configuration scripts, installation guides, and environment diagrams. Ensure all operational runbooks are current. Periodical Reporting: Generate and present periodic reports on environment health, resource utilization (MQ depth), patch levels, and incident trends to management.
Skill Requirements
Technical Skills & Requirements IBM MQ: Strong knowledge of MQ distributed queuing, clustering, and troubleshooting Dead Letter Queues (DLQ). Security: Deep understanding of SSL/TLS protocols, CipherSpecs, and IBM IKEYMAN/gskcmd tools. Scripting: Ability to automate administrative tasks using Shell scripting (or MQSC scripting). Operating Systems: Solid command-line experience in Linux/Unix environments for log analysis and process management.
Other Requirements
Education: Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on experience in MQ administration in a production environment. Certifications (Preferred): IBM Certified System Administrator - MQ.
