About the Role
We are looking for an Agronomist – Who has good knowledge and can build genuine trust with farmers on the ground. You will be the face of OneRoot in your area - visiting fields regularly , conducting regular meetings with farmers , cover a large part of area and advising farmers on crop practices, and helping them adopt better techniques and connect to OneRoot's marketplace. This role is ideal for someone who is locally rooted and genuinely enjoys working directly with farming communities.
Key Responsibilities
Guide farmers throughout the crop cycle—from land preparation and sowing to harvesting.
Recommend suitable cultivation methods and Good Agronomic Practices.
- Soil & Nutrient Management
Assess soil conditions and nutrient requirements.
Recommend appropriate fertilizers and nutrient-management practices.
- Pest & Disease Management
Identify pests, diseases, and crop disorders.
Suggest suitable preventive and corrective measures.
- Field Visits & Crop Monitoring
Regularly visit farms and monitor crop growth and development.
Identify problems related to soil, irrigation, nutrition, pests, and diseases.
Explain agricultural practices to farmers in a simple and practical way.
Conduct farmer meetings, demonstrations, and awareness sessions.
Understand field-level problems and provide timely solutions.
Escalate complex issues to senior agronomists or technical teams when required.
- Farmer Relationship Management
Build long-term, trust-based relationships with farmers.
Maintain regular communication and follow up on recommendations.
Record field observations, crop conditions, farmer interactions, and recommendations.
Prepare regular reports for the organization.
- Technology & Best-Practice Adoption
Encourage farmers to adopt improved cultivation techniques, technologies, and sustainable farming practices.
Cover assigned villages and agricultural areas through regular field visits.
Identify potential farmers and support the expansion of the organization's farmer network.
Requirements
Must be a local resident or willing to relocate to the applied location — Chamarajanagar
Kannada is a mandatory language .
Diploma, B.Sc., or M.Sc. in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field.
Freshers are welcome to apply; candidates with up to 1 year of relevant field experience preferred.
Sound working knowledge of crops and field practices, ideally with exposure to other regional cash crops.
Valid driving license and own two-wheeler, willingness to travel extensively across rural and field locations.
Comfortable working in outdoor field conditions for extended periods.
Skills & Competencies
Strong communication skills and a natural ability to connect with and earn the trust of farmers.
Persuasive and patient approach to convincing farmers to adopt new practices or tools.
Practical problem-solving mindset, with eagerness to learn and grow in the agronomy domain.
Dedicated, self-motivated, and result-oriented, with the discipline to work independently in the field.
Local language fluency and familiarity with the customs and farming patterns of the region.
