Pump Technician / Engineer (Centrifugal & Monoblock)
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Pump Technician / Engineer with hands-on expertise in assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and servicing Centrifugal Pumps and Monoblock Pump sets. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring precision assembly, optimal hydraulic performance, electrical safety, and mechanical reliability of our pump systems.
Key Responsibilities1. Assembly & Manufacturing
- Assemble internal pump components, including impellers, shafts, wear rings, mechanical seals, gaskets, and casings.
- Perform mechanical alignment, dynamic balancing, and clear tolerance checks for close-coupled (monoblock) and long-coupled centrifugal units.
- Mount single-phase and three-phase motors to pump ends with precise alignment to prevent vibration and premature seal failure.
2. Testing & Quality Control
- Conduct hydrostatic pressure tests, vacuum tests, and performance run-tests (flow rate vs. head pressure) against standard performance curves.
- Test monoblock electrical parameters including winding resistance, insulation resistance (megger test), current draw, and power factor.
- Identify and eliminate operational flaws such as hydraulic noise, air binding, cavitation, and thermal overload.
3. Diagnostics & Maintenance
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in the workshop and field environments.
- Replace worn components (bearings, mechanical seals, O-rings, impellers) during routine overhauls.
- Draft concise service reports documenting failure causes and corrective actions taken.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Hydraulic & Electrical Expertise: Solid understanding of total dynamic head (TDH), flow rate, Net Positive Suction Head (NPSH), and pump performance curves.
- Monoblock Motor Familiarity: Knowledge of single-phase/three-phase induction motors, capacitor sizing, terminal box wiring, and IP protection ratings.
- Precision Tools: Hands-on experience with dial indicators, micrometers, feeler gauges, pressure gauges, flow meters, and vibration meters.
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret engineering assembly drawings, exploded views, and electrical wiring diagrams.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Diploma or ITI in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Fitter, or Motor Mechanic trade (B.E./B.Tech considered for senior roles).
- Experience: 2–8 years of hands-on experience in pump assembly, testing, or field maintenance (specifically with centrifugal and monoblock pumps).
- Certifications: Trade certification in Fitting/Electrical work or pump machinery handling is a plus.
