Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Estimation Engineer for an upcoming large-scale healthcare construction project in Muvattupuzha.
The candidate will be responsible for quantity take-offs, cost estimation, BOQ preparation, rate analysis, tender evaluation, budgeting, value engineering, cost benchmarking, and coordination with design, procurement, project, and commercial teams.
Experience in hospitals, healthcare facilities, hotels, institutional buildings, commercial buildings, or other large MEP-intensive construction projects will be preferred.
Key ResponsibilitiesEstimation & Cost Planning
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil, structural, architectural, finishing, external development, and associated works.
- Review architectural, structural, MEP, landscape, interior, and specialist drawings for quantity estimation.
- Prepare preliminary, detailed, and revised project estimates at different design stages.
- Develop cost plans and project budgets based on drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Prepare accurate quantity take-offs from drawings and BIM models where applicable.
- Maintain updated cost databases for materials, labour, equipment, subcontract works, and specialist systems.
BOQ Preparation
- Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for various construction packages.
- Ensure BOQs are coordinated with drawings, specifications, and scope documents.
- Identify missing items, scope gaps, duplication, or inconsistencies in tender documents.
- Prepare package-wise BOQs for civil, structural, architectural, façade, interiors, external works, and other disciplines.
- Coordinate with MEP estimators for integrated project costing.
Rate Analysis
- Prepare detailed rate analysis considering:
- Material costs
- Labour productivity
- Plant and machinery
- Transportation
- Wastage
- Overheads
- Taxes and statutory charges
- Contractor margins
- Update market rates regularly through vendor and contractor enquiries.
- Develop benchmark rates for major construction activities.
Tendering & Contractor Evaluation
- Prepare tender BOQs, scopes of work, technical schedules, and commercial documentation.
- Float enquiries to contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers in coordination with procurement.
- Evaluate contractor quotations and prepare comparative statements.
- Identify deviations, exclusions, qualifications, and commercial risks in quotations.
- Assist management during contractor negotiations and package finalization.
- Prepare pre-award cost recommendations.
Budgeting & Cost Control Support
- Establish project budget breakdowns based on approved estimates.
- Compare tendered costs against approved budgets.
- Support the QS and commercial team in monitoring actual and committed costs.
- Update estimates based on design revisions and scope changes.
- Forecast potential cost variations and budget impacts.
- Maintain cost reports for management review.
Variation & Change Management
- Evaluate cost implications arising from drawing revisions, design modifications, and scope changes.
- Prepare variation estimates and comparative cost statements.
- Assist in reviewing contractor variation claims.
- Maintain records of approved and pending variations.
- Provide management with early warning regarding potential cost overruns.
Value Engineering
- Identify opportunities for value engineering without compromising:

Procurement Support

- Support negotiation of major procurement packages.

Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Quantity Surveying / Construction Management qualification will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in estimation, quantity surveying, or tendering.
- Experience in large-scale building projects preferred.
- Hospital / healthcare construction experience will be a strong advantage.

Quality Audits

Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant QA/QC experience in building construction.
- Experience in large institutional, hospital, commercial, hotel, or technically complex projects preferred.
- Healthcare project experience will be a strong advantage.
- QA/QC certification or ISO quality-management exposure will be an added advantage.
