ROLE OVERVIEW
The Depot Planning Engineer will support functional and capacity planning for modern integrated coaching maintenance facilities as part of the Delhi Station Decongestion Study. The role involves planning of examination lines, stabling, servicing infrastructure, and utilities for proposed maintenance facility sites.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare functional capacity plans for coaching maintenance facilities including examination lines, pits, stabling lines, and wash/service facilities
- Assess M&P (machinery and plant) utilisation, depot scheduling, and maintenance workflow requirements
- Develop maintenance facility layouts and infrastructure requirement briefs for proposed alternative locations
- Evaluate ERP/SAP-based maintenance planning approaches and recommend best-fit solutions for new facilities
- Analyse preventive and predictive maintenance requirements for rolling stock at proposed depot locations
- Support site evaluation with depot-specific technical criteria including utility needs and infrastructure gaps
- Coordinate with rolling stock experts to align depot planning with operational maintenance standards
- Contribute technical inputs to conceptual layout drawings, capacity assessments, and final project reports
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Production Engineering
- Minimum 3 years of experience in rolling stock maintenance planning, depot scheduling, or M&P utilisation in Railway Workshops, Production Units, or Open Line
- Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance planning preferred
- Knowledge of maintenance planning tools such as ERP/SAP and reliability engineering concepts
- Understanding of IR maintenance standards and RDSO/CAMTECH guidelines for coaching stock
- Ability to prepare technical reports and functional planning documents as part of a consultancy team
