Job Summary
We are looking for a Registered Pharmacist to manage the day-to-day operations of the hospital pharmacy, ensuring the safe, accurate, and timely dispensing of medicines to patients. The pharmacist will be responsible for prescription verification, medication dispensing, inventory management, documentation, and compliance with applicable pharmacy and hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prescription & Medication Dispensing
- Receive and verify prescriptions issued by authorized doctors.
- Dispense medicines accurately as per the prescription and hospital protocols.
- Ensure the correct medicine, strength, dosage, quantity, and instructions are provided.
- Clarify prescription-related concerns with the concerned doctor when required.
- Provide patients/attendants with appropriate instructions regarding medication usage, storage, and precautions.
- Ensure medicines are not dispensed without a valid prescription where required.
2. Pharmacy Inventory Management
- Maintain adequate stock of medicines and pharmacy supplies.
- Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, batch numbers, and storage conditions.
- Conduct regular physical stock verification and reconcile discrepancies.
- Follow FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) principles.
- Identify near-expiry, expired, damaged, or recalled medicines and maintain appropriate records.
- Prepare purchase/reorder requirements based on consumption and stock levels.
- Coordinate with vendors and the administration for procurement when required.
3. Controlled / Restricted Medicines
- Maintain proper records of controlled, restricted, and other regulated medicines as applicable.
- Ensure secure storage and authorized dispensing of such medicines.
- Maintain required registers, documentation, and stock reconciliation.
- Immediately report any discrepancy, loss, or suspected misuse to the appropriate authority.
4. Patient Safety & Quality
- Check medicines carefully before dispensing to minimize medication errors.
- Ensure proper labeling of dispensed medicines.
- Maintain appropriate storage conditions, including temperature-sensitive medicines where applicable.
- Follow hospital medication-safety protocols and infection-control practices.
- Report medication errors, adverse drug reactions, or other medication-related concerns through the appropriate hospital process.
5. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain pharmacy records, registers, invoices, stock records, and other required documentation.
- Ensure pharmacy operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, and hospital policies.
- Maintain records required for internal audits, inspections, and quality/accreditation requirements.
- Support hospital audits and pharmacy inspections as required.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and prescription information.
6. Coordination With Hospital Departments
- Coordinate with doctors, nursing staff, accounts, stores, and administration regarding medication requirements.
- Support nursing and clinical teams with pharmacy-related queries.
- Ensure timely availability of prescribed medicines for admitted patients.
- Communicate medicine availability, substitutions, or procurement requirements to the concerned team.
Qualifications
- D.Pharm / B.Pharm from a recognized institution.
- Must hold a valid pharmacist registration with the applicable State Pharmacy Council. (Karnataka registration)
- Candidates must meet all applicable statutory requirements to practice as a pharmacist in the hospital.
Experience
- 1–2 years of hospital/clinical pharmacy experience preferred.
- Freshers with valid registration may also be considered.
- Experience in psychiatric hospitals, multispecialty hospitals, or inpatient pharmacy operations will be an added advantage.

- Strong knowledge of medicines, dosage forms, and prescription handling.

Salary: As per experience and hospital pay structure.
Joining: Immediate joiners preferred.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
