Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Design Engineer with 6–8 years of experience in mechanical design, machine manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly.
The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of mechanical design fundamentals, machine design, assembly processes, and manufacturing practices, along with hands-on experience in industrial machinery.
Our company is engaged in the design, fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing of industrial machines, including straightening machines, rolling machines, bending machines, hydraulic presses, power presses, and other customized machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the design and development of industrial machinery and equipment.
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar CAD software.
- Develop machine assemblies, components, layouts, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Review and validate designs for manufacturability, performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee assembly design and ensure proper part compatibility, clearances, fits, and functionality.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, R&D, Fabrication, and Assembly teams to ensure smooth manufacturing and assembly.
- Perform design calculations, tolerance analysis, and material selection.
- Prepare and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) and other technical documentation.
- Analyze and resolve design-related issues during prototype development and production.
- Modify and improve existing machine designs to enhance performance, reliability, safety, and efficiency.
- Coordinate with manufacturing and assembly teams for design implementation.
- Support machine installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting at customer sites when required.
- Provide technical guidance to junior design engineers and team members.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on experience in machine manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly.
- Proficiency in 3D/2D CAD software, particularly SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of GD&T, welding, fabrication, machining, and assembly processes.
- Experience in designing straightening, rolling, bending, hydraulic press, or power press machines will be preferred.
- Knowledge of machine components, material selection, fits, tolerances, and mechanical systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good project planning and coordination abilities.
- Ability to work independently and lead small design teams.
- Good technical documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in heavy machine design and fabrication industries.
- Experience working in custom machine design and development environments.
- Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical system integration.
- Experience with machine installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Exposure to design optimization, cost reduction, and continuous improvement projects.
