Job Description
Smoke Culture by Steve is looking for a dedicated Commis II to join our morning kitchen team. The role involves preparing ingredients, assisting with daily production, ensuring all food items are ready for service, and supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen while maintaining the restaurant's quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow recipes and preparation standards set by the kitchen team.
- Maintain appropriate service levels by rationing and replenishing sides, sauces, garnishes, and other accompaniments for service.
- Monitor food levels for service to ensure uninterrupted kitchen operations while minimizing wastage.
- Oversee and coordinate the prep work assigned to junior kitchen staff and trainees.
- Guide junior team members on food preparation techniques, hygiene standards, and kitchen best practices.
- Ensure assigned tasks are completed on time and according to Smoke Culture's quality standards.
- Report any quality issues, equipment malfunctions, or stock shortages to the kitchen supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep stations, refrigerators, and storage areas.
- Ensure ingredients are properly labeled and stored.
- Support production of sides, breads, and other menu components as required.
- Monitor inventory levels and report shortages to the kitchen supervisor.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and kitchen safety standards at all times.
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation or a similar kitchen role preferred.
- Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food handling practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership skills with the ability to guide and support junior kitchen staff.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and consistency.
