Job Summary
The Estimation Engineer – Thermal Insulation is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and technical proposals for thermal insulation projects. The role involves reviewing project specifications and drawings, coordinating with vendors, preparing BOQs, and supporting the sales and project execution teams to ensure competitive and profitable bids.
Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documents, project specifications, drawings, and BOQs for thermal insulation projects.
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs from engineering drawings and specifications.
- Estimate material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs for thermal insulation works.
- Obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors and evaluate pricing.
- Prepare cost estimates, commercial proposals, and tender submissions within deadlines.
- Analyze project risks, costing assumptions, and technical requirements.
- Coordinate with the Sales, Procurement, Engineering, and Project teams for accurate estimates.
- Prepare technical and commercial bid documents.
- Maintain an updated database of material rates, labor costs, and vendor quotations.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits when required.
- Provide cost optimization and value engineering suggestions.
- Assist the project team during handover by explaining the estimated costs and assumptions.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, client requirements, and applicable industry codes.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of thermal insulation materials such as Rockwool, Glass Wool, Calcium Silicate, PIR/PUF, Elastomeric Rubber, Ceramic Fiber, and Aluminum/SS cladding.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, GA drawings, and isometric drawings.
- Excellent knowledge of estimation techniques, BOQ preparation, and rate analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
- Familiarity with ERP or estimation software is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication, negotiation, and coordination abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tender deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in Estimation or Quantity Surveying will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 3–8 years of experience in estimation for thermal insulation, industrial insulation, HVAC insulation, or related EPC projects.
- Experience in oil & gas, power plants, refineries, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, or industrial construction projects is preferred.
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
