Job Summary:
The Nursing Head is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating all nursing services within the hospital or healthcare facility. The role ensures safe, efficient, and patient-centered nursing care while maintaining compliance with healthcare standards, policies, and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and supervision to the nursing team.
- Develop, implement, and monitor nursing policies, procedures, and standards.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, safe, and evidence-based patient care.
- Plan and manage nursing staff recruitment, orientation, scheduling, and retention.
- Assess staffing requirements and allocate nursing personnel effectively.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and professional development.
- Monitor compliance with infection prevention and control practices.
- Ensure adherence to legal, ethical, and accreditation standards.
- Coordinate with doctors, allied health professionals, and hospital administration.
- Manage nursing budgets, supplies, and equipment efficiently.
- Investigate patient complaints, incidents, and medication errors, and implement corrective actions.
- Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Organize continuing nursing education and competency assessments.
- Maintain accurate nursing records and prepare departmental reports.
- Participate in hospital committees and strategic planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing); Master's degree (M.Sc. Nursing/MHA/MBA in Healthcare) preferred.
- Valid nursing registration/licensure as required by the regulatory authority.
- 8–15 years of clinical nursing experience, including supervisory or management experience.
