JOB DESCRIPTION – MECHANICAL ESTIMATION & TENDER ENGINEER
Position: Mechanical Estimation & Tender Engineer

Qualification: B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Job Summary
We are looking for a Mechanical Estimation & Tender Engineer responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, BOQs, quotations, and techno-commercial tender submissions for mechanical projects. The role involves reviewing tender documents, analysing drawings and specifications, obtaining vendor quotations, estimating material and manpower requirements, and supporting the tender process from enquiry to submission.
Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documents, drawings, BOQs, specifications, and scope of work.
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, BOQs, rate analysis, and project cost estimates.
- Prepare techno-commercial offers, quotations, and tender submissions.
- Calculate material, manpower, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from vendors and subcontractors.
- Conduct market rate analysis and maintain updated cost databases.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Projects, Finance, and Management teams for tender preparation.
- Identify exclusions, deviations, risks, and commercial conditions in tender documents.
- Prepare tender comparison statements and support negotiation with vendors/subcontractors.
- Ensure timely submission of tenders within the specified deadlines.
- Maintain records of submitted tenders, quotations, cost sheets, and estimation data.
- Support post-tender clarifications, negotiations, and commercial discussions.
- Assist in contract finalisation, work order review, and project cost control when required.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of mechanical estimation, quantity surveying, BOQ preparation, and rate analysis.
- Good understanding of mechanical drawings, specifications, and project execution methods.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and estimation/costing tools.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and commercial skills.
- Good negotiation and vendor coordination skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
- Knowledge of relevant IS/ASME/API standards will be an added advantage.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience in mechanical construction, piping, fabrication, HVAC, oil & gas, industrial projects, shipbuilding/ship repair, or infrastructure projects will be preferred.
