Position Summary
The Manager – Logistics is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing end-to-end logistics operations, ensuring the safe, timely, and cost-effective movement of luxury furniture from suppliers to manufacturing facilities and from factories to customer sites. The role requires excellent coordination with Production, Purchase, Stores, Project, Installation, Sales, and Customer Experience teams while maintaining the highest standards of product handling, documentation, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities1. Outbound Logistics
- Plan and manage dispatch schedules based on project priorities.
- Ensure on-time delivery to clients across India.
- Coordinate with project teams for site readiness before dispatch.
- Monitor vehicle movement and delivery status.
- Ensure complete documentation before dispatch.
- Coordinate with installation teams for smooth unloading and handover.
2. Inbound Logistics
- Coordinate transportation of raw materials and purchased goods.
- Ensure timely receipt of materials from vendors.
- Track shipments and resolve transportation delays.
- Coordinate with Purchase and Stores for material planning.
3. Transportation Management
- Develop and maintain a reliable transporter network.
- Negotiate freight rates and transportation contracts.
- Monitor transporter performance and service quality.
- Optimize transportation costs without compromising service quality.
4. Dispatch Planning
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly dispatch plans.
- Prioritize urgent and project-based deliveries.
- Coordinate loading schedules with Production and Warehouse teams.
- Ensure complete vehicle utilization.
5. Packaging & Product Protection
- Ensure premium packaging standards for luxury furniture.
- Minimize transit damage through proper packing methods.
- Monitor packaging material availability.
- Implement handling SOPs for fragile and high-value products.
6. Warehouse & Inventory Coordination
- Coordinate with Stores for dispatch-ready inventory.
- Ensure FIFO wherever applicable.
- Verify dispatch quantities with approved documents.
- Support stock verification and inventory audits.
7. Documentation & Compliance
- Ensure all dispatch documents are accurate and complete.
- Maintain E-Way Bills, invoices, delivery challans, transport receipts, and gate passes.
- Ensure statutory compliance related to transportation.
- Maintain records for audits.
8. Customer & Project Coordination
- Coordinate delivery schedules with clients and project managers.
- Provide shipment updates to internal stakeholders.
- Handle delivery-related escalations professionally.
- Ensure seamless customer experience during deliveries.
9. Team Management
- Lead logistics coordinators, dispatch executives, drivers, and loading staff.
- Conduct daily logistics review meetings.
- Monitor productivity and discipline.
- Train the team on logistics SOPs and safety practices.
10. Cost Optimization
- Reduce transportation costs through route optimization.
- Improve truck utilization.
- Minimize detention and waiting charges.
- Monitor logistics budgets and expenses.
11. Vendor Management
- Evaluate transport vendors periodically.
- Maintain transporter scorecards.
- Develop alternate logistics partners.
- Ensure vendor compliance with company standards.
12. Safety & Risk Management
- Ensure safe loading and unloading practices.
- Prevent transit damage and product loss.
- Monitor insurance claims for damaged goods.
- Ensure compliance with safety guidelines during transportation.
13. Continuous Improvement
- Identify process improvement opportunities.
- Digitize logistics tracking and reporting.
- Improve dispatch accuracy and delivery timelines.
- Implement logistics KPIs and dashboards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Commerce, or Engineering.
- MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain or Operations preferred.
- Certification in Logistics or Supply Chain Management is an added advantage.
Experience
- 8–12 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management.
- Minimum 5 years in a managerial role.
- Experience in furniture manufacturing, interiors, modular furniture, luxury products, or project-based manufacturing is preferred.
