Job Summary
The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing ophthalmic consultations, diagnostic procedures, surgeries, and post-operative treatment. The nurse ensures patient safety, infection control, proper documentation, and patient education while supporting ophthalmologists and the healthcare team.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care
- Assess patients' general health status and record vital signs.
- Prepare patients for ophthalmic examinations, investigations, and surgical procedures.
- Administer prescribed medications, eye drops, injections, and treatments.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after ophthalmic procedures and surgeries.
- Provide post-operative nursing care and observe for complications.
Operation Theatre (OT) Support
- Assist ophthalmologists during cataract, glaucoma, retina, cornea, and other eye surgeries.
- Prepare and maintain sterile instruments, equipment, and OT supplies.
- Ensure compliance with aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Maintain OT records and surgical checklists.
Patient Education
- Educate patients and caregivers regarding:
- Eye drop administration
- Post-operative care instructions
- Medication compliance
- Follow-up schedules
- Eye hygiene and preventive eye care
Documentation
- Maintain accurate nursing records and patient charts.
- Document treatments, medications, observations, and nursing interventions.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient information.
Infection Control & Safety
- Follow hospital infection prevention and control guidelines.
- Ensure proper sterilization and handling of ophthalmic instruments.
- Report incidents, adverse events, and safety concerns promptly.
Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, technicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Assist in patient flow management in OPD, wards, and OT.
- Participate in clinical meetings and quality improvement activities.
Qualifications
- Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) or B.Sc. Nursing.
- Valid Nursing Council Registration.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
Experience
- 1–3 years of nursing experience preferred.
- Experience in ophthalmology or eye hospital settings is an advantage.
- Freshers may be considered based on organizational requirements.

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹12,000.00 per month
