We are looking for a hands-on Production Engineer to plan, execute, and monitor day-to-day manufacturing activities on the shop floor. The role covers fabrication, machining, and assembly of our equipment — ensuring output is delivered on schedule, to drawing, within cost, and to quality standards, while coordinating closely with Design, Quality, Stores, and Purchase.
Key Responsibilities
Production planning & execution
- Prepare and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production plans against dispatch commitments.
- Allocate manpower, machines, and materials to work centres for optimum utilisation.
- Track work-order progress, identify bottlenecks, and take corrective action to avoid delays.
- Maintain and improve cycle times, throughput, and on-time delivery performance.
Shop floor supervision
- Supervise fabrication, welding, machining, fitting, and assembly operations.
- Ensure work is carried out strictly as per approved drawings, BOM, and process sheets.
- Guide fitters, welders, machinists, and helpers on methods, sequencing, and workmanship.
- Monitor consumables, tooling, and fixture availability; raise timely requirements.
Coordination & material control
- Coordinate with Stores and Purchase for timely availability of raw material, bought-out items, and sub-assemblies.
- Follow up with vendors on outsourced fabrication, machining, and surface-treatment jobs.
- Work with the Design team to resolve drawing queries, deviations, and engineering changes on the floor.
- Coordinate with Quality on in-process inspection, non-conformances, and rework decisions.
Quality, cost & improvement
- Ensure adherence to process standards, inspection stages, and final assembly checks.
- Minimise rejection, rework, and material wastage; support root-cause analysis and corrective action.
- Drive productivity improvement, lean/5S practices, and workplace organisation.
- Suggest process, jig/fixture, and layout improvements to reduce cost and cycle time.
