Job Purpose
The Survey Engineer shall be responsible for carrying out all topographical, engineering, and construction surveys required for the successful execution of the EPC project. The role includes collecting accurate site information, establishing survey controls, preparing survey drawings, and coordinating with architects, structural consultants, and design teams to ensure that all designs are based on verified site conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed topographical, contour, and engineering surveys of the project site.
- Establish and maintain permanent benchmarks, reference points, and survey control stations.
- Record and verify existing ground levels, utilities, structures, roads, drainage systems, trees, and other physical features.
- Prepare survey reports, contour maps, coordinate layouts, and AutoCAD drawings for submission to architects and design consultants.
- Provide complete and accurate site data required by the architect for preparation of architectural, structural, and service drawings.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, MEP consultants, geotechnical consultants, and other design agencies during the design development stage.
- Carry out setting out of buildings, roads, utilities, foundations, grids, columns, and all construction elements as per approved drawings.
- Verify dimensions, levels, alignments, and coordinates before commencement of each activity.
- Ensure that all survey activities comply with project specifications, contract requirements, and applicable standards.
- Maintain calibration records and proper usage of survey instruments including Total Station, Auto Level, DGPS/GPS, Drone Survey equipment (where applicable), and other survey tools.
- Prepare as-built surveys and coordinate with the documentation team for project records.
- Assist in quantity verification, earthwork calculations, cut-and-fill analysis, and progress measurements.
- Identify discrepancies between site conditions and design drawings and immediately report the same to the Project Manager and Design Team.
- Support statutory approvals by providing survey drawings and site information as required by local authorities.
- Maintain proper documentation of survey data, field books, digital records, and survey registers.
Desired Skills
- Proficiency in Total Station, Auto Level, DGPS/GPS, and modern surveying equipment.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS software, and survey data processing software.
- Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and infrastructure drawings.
- Strong understanding of coordinates, benchmarks, contouring, and engineering survey principles.
- Good communication and coordination skills with architects, consultants, contractors, and client representatives.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
Qualification
- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering or Diploma in Survey Engineering.
- Relevant certification in land or engineering surveying shall be preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in engineering surveys for EPC, industrial, infrastructure, commercial, or institutional projects.
- Experience in preparing survey data for architects and design consultants is mandatory.
- Familiarity with as-built surveys, setting out works, and quantity verification will be an added advantage.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
