Job Summary
The Biomedical Staff will be responsible for the proper operation, maintenance, safety, and availability of biomedical and diagnostic equipment used in CDFC Hospital, Podiatric Centre, Diabetic Foot Care Centre, and Radiology/X-Ray Department.
The role includes equipment handling, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration coordination, inventory management, service coordination, documentation, and providing technical support to doctors and clinical staff.
Key Responsibilities1. Biomedical Equipment Management
- Maintain and monitor all biomedical equipment used throughout the hospital and clinical departments.
- Ensure equipment is available and functioning properly before clinical use.
- Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance.
- Identify equipment faults and coordinate timely repairs.
- Maintain equipment service and maintenance records.
- Ensure proper functioning of medical equipment and accessories.
2. Diabetic Foot Care Equipment
- Handle and maintain diabetic foot screening and assessment equipment.
- Support clinical staff in the proper use of:
- Diabetic foot screening devices
- Doppler equipment
- Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) equipment
- Monofilament testing equipment
- Pressure/foot assessment systems
- Digital examination and measurement devices
- Other podiatric diagnostic equipment
- Ensure equipment is maintained according to manufacturer guidelines and hospital SOPs.
- Coordinate servicing and repairs whenever required.
3. Podiatric Centre Support
- Provide technical support during podiatric procedures and patient assessments.
- Ensure equipment is clean, functional, and ready for use.
- Assist doctors, nurses, and podiatry staff with equipment-related requirements.
- Check equipment before and after clinical procedures.
- Report equipment malfunction immediately to the concerned authority.
4. X-Ray Equipment & Radiology Support
- Maintain and monitor X-Ray equipment and related accessories.
- Ensure X-Ray equipment is functioning properly and available for clinical use.
- Conduct routine equipment checks as per the approved checklist.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance, servicing, calibration, and breakdown repairs with authorized service providers.
- Maintain X-Ray equipment service records, calibration certificates, AMC/CMC details, and breakdown reports.
- Check the proper functioning of X-Ray accessories, detectors, cables, positioning equipment, and related systems.
- Coordinate with Radiology staff regarding equipment-related issues and requirements.
- Report any equipment malfunction, electrical issue, abnormal noise, or safety concern immediately.
- Support authorized Radiology personnel with technical and equipment-related requirements.
- Assist during equipment servicing, inspection, audits, and service visits.
5. Preventive Maintenance & Calibration
- Follow the preventive maintenance schedule for all biomedical equipment.
- Coordinate calibration and servicing with authorized service providers.
- Maintain calibration certificates and service reports.
- Monitor equipment warranty and AMC/CMC details.
- Maintain records of breakdowns, repairs, servicing, and replacement requirements.
- Ensure timely follow-up of pending maintenance and repair work.
6. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure biomedical equipment is used safely.
- Check electrical safety and proper functioning of equipment.
- Follow infection-control requirements while handling clinical equipment.
- Follow applicable radiation-safety procedures for X-Ray equipment.
- Report unsafe, damaged, or malfunctioning equipment immediately.
- Follow hospital policies, SOPs, manufacturer guidelines, and applicable quality standards.
- Support hospital inspections and equipment-related audits.
7. Inventory & Documentation
- Maintain an updated biomedical equipment inventory.
- Record equipment details, serial numbers, location, purchase date, warranty, AMC/CMC, and service history.
- Maintain daily equipment checklists where required.
- Prepare equipment breakdown and maintenance reports.
- Maintain records of calibration, servicing, repairs, and replacements.
- Monitor consumables, accessories, probes, cables, sensors, detectors, and other equipment-related items.
8. Coordination
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, podiatrists, Radiology staff, administration, housekeeping, and external biomedical service providers.
- Arrange equipment demonstrations and basic user training for clinical staff.
- Follow up on pending repairs and service calls.
- Coordinate with authorized service engineers for equipment maintenance.
- Escalate critical equipment issues to Management without delay.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of biomedical equipment and medical devices.
- Knowledge of diabetic foot care and podiatric equipment.
- Knowledge of X-Ray/radiology equipment and basic troubleshooting.
- Good understanding of electrical and electronic systems.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to maintain equipment records and technical reports.
- Ability to work effectively with doctors and clinical teams.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance and calibration procedures.
- Ability to coordinate with external service providers.
Daily Responsibilities
- Check availability and functioning of clinical equipment.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections.
- Check diabetic foot and podiatric equipment.
- Check X-Ray equipment as per the approved checklist.
- Attend equipment complaints and breakdowns.
- Ensure equipment is ready before OP/IP procedures and assessments.
- Update maintenance and service records.
- Follow up on pending repairs, calibration, and AMC/CMC services.
- Maintain equipment inventory and documentation.
- Report critical issues to Management.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Equipment uptime and availability.
- Timely completion of preventive maintenance.
- Reduction in equipment breakdowns and downtime.
- Timely closure of service complaints.
- Accuracy of biomedical equipment records.
- Timely completion of calibration and servicing.
- Compliance with safety and hospital SOPs.
- Proper coordination with clinical and service teams.
Important X-Ray Compliance
- X-Ray operation must be performed only by appropriately qualified and authorized personnel as applicable.
- Biomedical staff should not independently operate X-Ray equipment unless they possess the required qualification, authorization, and institutional approval.
- Radiation-safety procedures must be followed at all times.
- Follow applicable AERB requirements, hospital radiation-safety procedures, and manufacturer guidelines.
Accountability
The Biomedical Staff is responsible for ensuring that biomedical, podiatric, diabetic foot care, and X-Ray-related equipment at CDFC Hospital – Kilpauk is safe, functional, properly maintained, and readily available for patient care.
Pay: From ₹18,000.00 per month
