Job Description – Area Sales Manager (ASM) – General Trade (GT Sales)

About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic and result-oriented Area Sales Manager (ASM – General Trade) to drive business growth across the assigned territory. The ideal candidate will be responsible for achieving sales targets, expanding market reach, strengthening distributor networks, and leading the sales team to deliver sustainable business growth. The role requires extensive market travel and strong execution capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual primary and secondary sales targets.
- Drive General Trade (GT) sales across the assigned territory.
- Appoint, manage, and develop distributors to strengthen the distribution network.
- Increase numeric distribution, outlet coverage, and market penetration.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, wholesalers, retailers, and key accounts.
- Lead, coach, and monitor the performance of Sales Officers/TSIs.
- Ensure effective implementation of trade schemes, promotions, merchandising, and visibility initiatives.
- Conduct regular market visits to identify growth opportunities and monitor competitor activities.
- Track sales performance, distributor stock, collections, and inventory levels.
- Prepare sales forecasts, MIS reports, and market intelligence reports.
- Ensure achievement of business objectives while maintaining high execution standards.
RequirementsEducation
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce, or a related field.
Experience
- 5–8 years of experience in FMCG General Trade Sales.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Area Sales Manager or in a team-handling role.
- Strong exposure to distributor management, channel sales, and market expansion.
- Experience in the Nashik market will be preferred.
